FCPS does, some other stuff I’ll wish they did differently, but ultimately, I’m not the king of FCPS, so I don’t get to be final decider on the curriculum. It seems ridiculous to me that any parent thinks that the school system could be a perfect proxy for them.

I agree. She also said that young children are "debating" gender issues. I haven't heard of or seen anything that leads me to believe that primary students, or even those in 6th grade, are "debating gender issues".

The board was exploring the idea of introducing gender identity discussions in elementary schools, meaning telling young kids that gender and sex are different and that they might actually be a boy in a girl’s body or a girl in a boy’s body. Many parents object to this.

FLECAC will review relevant research to determine if a recommendation for instruction of gender identity should be included in elementary school. Any recommendation would include the specific grade(s) where instruction would occur and the objective and descriptive statement. If a recommendation is made, it would be included in a future community review prior to School Board vote and addition to the curriculum.

I find people cheering on the attack on our school system by the world’s richest man to be bullying. Have you seen the devastation he has wrought on federal employee, universities, science, lawyers and more? I would like to keep our local schools functioning for our kids. When “our school system” won’t listen to parents, but is instead guided by a vocal, extreme minority view, it stops being “our school system” and it becomes “your school system” until we recruit anyone it takes to get it back.

If FCPS doesn’t want to become national news then maybe they shouldn’t do things that blatantly go against what parents want.
