Yep. Basic sex education is all that's needed, and certainly not for K-3.

You all sound like you are not FCPS parents or you would know what FLE is. Is this forum just being astroturfed? Every commenter seems unfamiliar with FLE.

Agree! It’s seems weirdly coordinated responses by people who don’t live here.

This thread has attracted DCUM's resident MAGA trolls. Of course they don't know what they heck they're talking about.

Musk’s goon squad. He sends them out to attack people and organizations every day.

It really seemed astroturfed from the first few comments. Several were clearly unaware of existing FLE curriculum.

You are willfully missing the point. It is not the specific FLE curriculum you are citing. It is the fact that no one in FCPS listens to anything parents say. Survey after survey just for show.

I get that you are on here defending your work. This tweet is just the beginning.

Just a parent who is tired of kids of MAGAs who are not taught not to be bullying little turds for anything race or LGBTQ related

Holy double negatives, Batman! I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.
DP

It means MAGA parents who avoid teaching kids basic realities of how people are different wind up with kids who bully when they encounter those differences.

You can distract with making fun of me, but I guess that is to be expected of parents who raise kids to be jerks.

Making fun of you? I don't think it's too much to ask to simply write clear and concise statements. And you're the ahole calling kids "little turds." Are you also the PP who called anyone who disagrees with you a "kunt"? Maybe take a look in the mirror.

Maybe stop being afraid of simply teaching kids that some kids have two dads or two moms, scaredy cat? So that they don't make fun of it when they encounter it?

Umm... that's not the issue here, genius. That is discussed in kindergarten. We're not talking about that. Try and keep up.

Nope. It is what is in the curriculum being discussed here. Adding this in kindergarten. It is not part of existing FLE for kindergarten. I have a kindergartner. I know what they learned in FLE this year and I am happy if FCPS adds basic acknowledgement of kids with gay parents to the basic FLE teaching moving forward.

Maybe read what is actually being proposed before just reacting?

This is ALREADY in the kindergarten curriculum. Good grief! It's clearly you who needs to read, so let me help you:

Kindergarten Instructional Objectives – Emotional and Social Health
K.1 Students will recognize that everyone is a member of a family and identify members of their individual families.
Descriptive Statement: Students will identify adult and child members of their families. The type of family structures could include any adult caregivers of the child and any children that live in the home with the child. This could include but are not limited to two parent/guardian families (mother/father, two mothers, two fathers, extended family members, or grandparents), single parent/guardian families, adoptive families, foster families, families with stepparents, and blended families.

https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary/kindergarten/year-at-a-glance/family-life-education

Great! Then the proposed curriculum as written is not a change!

For that part (family configuration), no it isn't. Which is why we're not talking about that.

What specifically is different at kindergarten level then? Examples, specific quotes, text?

Anything?

Geez, just homeschool or do private if you are going to analyze every thing the school does.

She is a Christian influencer who works with the Family Foyndation. She doesn't even know that the Fairfsx School Board has 12 members (she says it is 16).
This is an operation to distract us from the OPSEC violations with Signal.

As noted earlier, she may have been referring to the number of members on the family life advisory committee, not the school board.

You sound like you're trafficking in conspiracy theories when you say it's intended to "distract us from the OPSEC violations with Signal." Not that many people really care what happens within FCPS.

Nearly her whole speech is garbage. She doesn't know how many school board members we have, she refers to a "focus group" that never happened, and she has her own ministry. She was NEVER going to send her kids to public schools. This is an op. You are either part of it, or an idiot. You choose.

Gross.

It gets worse because it looks like the whole thing was planned by Family Foundation.
I'm so sick of these right-wing crazies using our schools as a political football.

It is like a day of incorporating the acknowledgement that gay people exist in the existing FLE program. Chill out with the overreaction.

That’s not what it’s about and you know it.

I actually read the curriculum so yes, that is what it is about. Also necessary for bullying prevention, frankly.

The board wanted to introduce gender identity lessons in elementary schools, despite the overwhelming objection of parents who were surveyed. That’s the context in which the video was made.

This is a misrepresentation. I looked up the actual "curriculum" and it is acknowledging some kids have two moms or two dads at kindergarten age and some kids call themselves a different gender than how they were born at fifth grade age. All absolutely necessary for bullying prevention. Also if it is FLE, parents can opt out .

Fifth grade is absolutely the wring age to introduce that.

ALL of the kids at that age are feeling uncomfortable and self conscious with their bodies.

The only reason to intriduce it in fifth is to put the idea in their head while they are still impressionable kids but also while they are naturally going through body discomfort and self consciousness.

The only thing they should be told is that feeling awkward and not liking your body changes is natural, normal, and will pass in a year or two.

So you're afraid that if your kids hear from a teacher that transgender people exist, they will change their gender?

It is well documented that girls, in particular, have social contagion when it comes to claiming to be transgender.

It is also true that adults in power can influence kids to believe in and do things that are not in their best interest or can actially harm them.

FALSE.

Please educate yourself.

It is well documented that hirls, in particular have social contagion when ir comes to claiming to be transgender.

It is also very well documented that if they are just left alone and not encouraged, that most children will eventually grow our of the transgender fad and live adult lives happy with their natural body and the sex they were born with, often just regular old boring gay men and lesbians.

These are facts.

Screwing with kids and pushing the "sex assigned at birth" nonsense is doing this generation so much harm.

DP. What do you mean, "there was never a focus group"?? There was a long thread about it when it was going on, and EVERY FCPS parent was given a chance to respond. You are clearly incredibly ignorant - yet are ironically calling others "idiots."

Uh... have you ever spoken to a parent of a preschooler??

She sounds just like every dingle preschool parent everywhere trying to make sense of the FCPS school system.

Elon is more morally panicked than the rest of us because he has one trans big kid and 7 kids under age 4 from 3 moms who could be turned by hearing the wrong storybook. In fact, one of his babies' moms believes in the power of literature so much that she wrote an anti-trans kid's storybook.

He has so many more kids to reject his crap parenting, it's hard not to feel sorry for him.

Anything? What is the specific curriculum proposed and I want it broken down by grade level.

Everyone is up in arms about it without actually knowing what exactly is.proposed per grade level. The little I read of what it actually would include calmed me down. But if someone has the actual curriculum text, let's analyze actual facts rather then just engage in hysteria.

People, she’s afraid her son will come home with a vagina after hearing POTUS claiming that sex change operations are widespread in American elementary schools. I mean I’d be worried that afterwards they’d serve cats and dogs for lunch in that heathen Fairfax county. I agree with everything she said because she’s soo pretty.
