It’s been on the news starting this morning and picked up steam as family and friends pushed it out there. I’ve been watching it all in real time. There has been very little time from when news outlets were contacted and the story came out. The family and media have both done a great job getting this out there. Anyone that’s on the social media groups know this, and what a team effort it’s been. Kudos to everyone, and hope she is found alive. She sounds lovely and her family is very well respected in our community. |
I think it's time to report the poster who is like a dog with a bone about the media "not covering" this. The story is all over the media right now, so to that poster: could you please shut up? |

According to this article, she very likely drowned. I don’t know why other news sources aren’t given more information.

That’s wonderful! |
Why not? We have high incomes and could go anywhere but frequently go there for thr direct flights, short distance from airport to residence, etc |
The story leaves out who the other person was that she went into the water with and whether they also drowned. Was it one of her friends? Another guest at the hotel? A local? |

Don’t most people teach kids that the ocean is a wild place and only get in the water when it’s guarded. |
Wasn’t that the story of Halloways killer, that he left her at the beach ? |
Why didn't this person tell everyone what happened? |
Because it was spring break? It's easier to get to than some other places, has resorts, nice weather, it's such a common place to visit from U.S. |
My heart goes out to the poor family of this young woman. There but for the grace of god… |

DP. Are you aware the DR has had a U.S. State Dept. Level 2 Travel Advisory since last June? ![]() Reissued after periodic review without changes. Exercise increased caution in the Dominican Republic due to crime. Country Summary: Violent crime, including armed robbery, homicide, and sexual assault, is a concern throughout the Dominican Republic. The development of a professional tourist police corps, institution of a 911 system in many parts of the country, and a concentration of resources in resort areas means these tend to be better policed than urban areas like Santo Domingo. The wide availability of weapons, the use and trade of illicit drugs, and a weak criminal justice system contribute to the high level of criminality on the broader scale. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/dominican-republic-travel-advisory.html |
