Neither were three of the four other tourists who drowned at the same beach last January.

The boy is very lucky he didn't drowned with her. Another kid their age just drowned while trying to help another peer caught in a rip current on holiday in Mexico.

Many people who drown aren’t found quickly, or at all. (Natalee Holloway for example)

Why is it surprising? Oceans have currents. Many people who jump off the Golden Gate Bridge never have their bodies found.
