Missing college student in the Dominican Republic from Ashburn

Uh, this applies to Atlantic "beach resorts" and Pacific "beach resorts" in *gasp* the US too. This situation involved two American college students. There's nothing about it that couldn't/wouldn't have happened in Miami, or South Padre Island, or Panama City, or or or...wherever else college kids go on domestic beach trips these days.

Possible. But I was in a sorority in college and blackout drinking and vomiting was honestly pretty normal — especially on spring break. It’s obviously disgusting to think about now but at 18 to 21 it was far from uncommon.

But looking at a sample of all the people at the bar, we see 2 vomiting. It would not be surprising that a petite TJ/pre-med girl would be more affected by alcohol than average 20 year olds. But that the big burly white dude from Iowa/Minnesota? Doesn't make sense for him got be getting sick before every other person at the bar. Thus, the tainted drink theory.

What does her high school/college major have to do with how affected by alcohol she would be?!?!

They’re usually smarter. But you knew that. It has nothing to do with race.

She isn't petite.

Can they quickly declare someone dead? I thought it took years?

PP from a few pages back and I contend that closing the case was per the parents’ express wishes. They want to grieve and not make their daughters case an unsolved mystery and all that entails.

I thought I read that she was 5'3". Anyway, it's likely that she did not have a high tolerance for alcohol. But because only she and the big mid-western dude were seen vomiting the tainted drink theory cannot be ruled out.

Sloppy “reporting” for People to pick up the “person of interest” moniker when actual law enforcement with authority (Loudoun’s Barney Fife doesn’t count) never used that term to describe the “witness” who was illegally detained.

There is no legal provision in DR or US to declare someone dead after 11 days with no body (nor is it possible under US law). The legislature in DR would have to pass a special law to do so.

Shorthand for man last known to be seen with missing and presumed dead woman.

The scratches on him, discussed in court were a genuine concern and per reports in DR there may be other specific concerns, focus on him was not baseless.

Even if his story was true she could have been harmed by the men seen on cctv going to the beach after he claimed to pass out. Or by others.

She is and that is considered petite.

Was that some kind of slur from a rando claiming she is not?

While the likely result here seems to have been she drowned, it’s still troubling to me after all this time, she still has not been found.

Have you seen the pictures of her?

Agree. I understand that. They have other children. They can grieve privately. Nothing will bring their daughter back. It is just not the case that she is alive. That being the case, what is the point of following this, when there is no threat or chance of survival?
