“Today, after a 30-day pause, the United States administration has decided to proceed with imposing 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 per cent tariffs on Canadian energy. Let me be unequivocally clear – there is no justification for these actions.

“While less than 1 per cent of the fentanyl intercepted at the U.S. border comes from Canada, we have worked relentlessly to address this scourge that affects Canadians and Americans alike. We implemented a $1.3 billion border plan with new choppers, boots on the ground, more co-ordination, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. We appointed a Fentanyl Czar, listed transnational criminal cartels as terrorist organizations, launched the Joint Operational Intelligence Cell, and are establishing a Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force on organized crime. Because of this work – in partnership with the United States – fentanyl seizures from Canada have dropped 97 per cent between December 2024 and January 2025 to a near-zero low of 0.03 pounds seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“Canada will not let this unjustified decision go unanswered. Should American tariffs come into effect tonight, Canada will, effective 12:01 a.m. EST tomorrow, respond with 25 per cent tariffs against $155 billion of American goods – starting with tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods immediately, and tariffs on the remaining $125 billion on American products in 21 days’ time. Our tariffs will remain in place until the U.S. trade action is withdrawn, and should U.S. tariffs not cease, we are in active and ongoing discussions with provinces and territories to pursue several non-tariff measures. While we urge the U.S. administration to reconsider their tariffs, Canada remains firm in standing up for our economy, our jobs, our workers, and for a fair deal.

“Because of the tariffs imposed by the U.S., Americans will pay more for groceries, gas, and cars, and potentially lose thousands of jobs. Tariffs will disrupt an incredibly successful trading relationship. They will violate the very trade agreement that was negotiated by President Trump in his last term.”

Trudeau doesn’t get to decide. Trump does. His Order, his tariffs. Good on him.

Well smarty pants, I guess you're wrong. He just did.

No one is buying those anymore. Newsome excluded Tesla from electric vehicle credits.

Tesla is about done. Their board of directors is offloading all the shares.

TSLA is sinking like a stone. Down from $425 a few weeks ago to $280 yesterday.

It is now at $268. Down, down, down, down.

I read Elon's brother is selling off shares too. Who is buying them??

Not many people, it’s the institutional investors and the meme lords. The institutional investors will get out when the time is right for them, which will probably be soon. Bargains will appear in the market in real companies and they can unload.

I think you are right about the institutional investors. TSLA is in the S&P 500 and QQQ and in so many ETF's. Therefore, they are automatic buys in most people's 457, 401ks, IRAs, etc. It's on an algorithm purchase.

Long overdue. For a crap automaker they were priced like a tech company for too long.

Not how any of this works. Farmers can't just go out to their fields and press some buttons to change what and how much grows. This will drive prices UP not down.

Canadians aren’t just targeting red states but red areas of blue states as well. See this article from last week on a surge of Canadians canceling their annual road trips to the Jersey shore:

https://www.nj.com/cape-may-county/2025/02/jersey-shore-businesses-brace-for-big-loss-of-canadians-tourists-amid-rising-tensions.html?outputType=amp

Wildwood NJ in particular makes big bucks from Québécois. Not this year.

And numbers are already down in Orlando, another big destination, to the point where flights are being cut.

Gotta respect the Canadians putting their money where their mouths are. I think next year I’ll skip my annual Jersey shore trip and visit up there instead. We know how to behave respectfully to our neighbors.

"If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do anything — including cutting off their energy — with a smile on my face," Ford said during his first news conference since winning a landslide victory in a provincial election last week.

"They need to feel the pain. They want to come at us? We've got to go back twice as hard," Ford said.

I didn’t vote for Doug and wasn’t happy he won the election last week, but he’s exactly the kind of thug that can deal with Trump.

If it was any other generic company with the numbers it has, it would be a $25 dollar stock at best.

I have been doing the same - no extraneous money spent in red states.

This when Trump and Vance accuse President Zelenskyy of being disrespectful.

Trump really does think he is the only ne wirth6 if reverence, when in fact he will do down in history as having done more damage to our country than any other human being.

Reoubkucabs, you have a lot to atone for.

Just unbelievable how this trainwreck presidency has destroyed relations with our neighbors that have been fine for the last 100+ years.

It’s worth it to get the transgenders out of women’s sports.

If Republicans cared as much about kids killed by guns as they do about what the genital status is of the 5 trans athletes this affects.

Facts…which are very confusing to MAGAs.

I don't know why it still even that high. Who is buying Teslas now? Everyone hates Musk except for MAGA people who also hate EVs.

Right. What if a his target market now?

They should be our focus—particularly Republicans.

I genuinely don't think he cares about Tesla anymore. His new payment platform on X is going to rake in billions of dollars. That and sucking up as many government contracts as he can are his focus right now. (And why he is destroying the most relevant regulators for payment apps.) He also seems obsessed with the idea that America "needs" to have a recession, so driving us into one is another focus. I agree with Jeff's post that because Musk has lots of loans (LOTS), he's probably very concerned about interest rates, and so driving them down makes sense as rationale for attempting to dismantle much of the government. (No reasonable person believes he cares about government efficiency, so let's drop that pretense.)

And why is Congress sitting back letting one man destroy the country to serve his personal business interests?
