She looks well groomed and in shape. Why are you picking on this woman?

The bottom fit is so much more flattering, and the overall look is much better. I don't know what she's punishing her own boobs for, though -- I feel like I'm an unwilling participant in something. But otherwise lovely.

She may be uncomfortable with accentuating them/wearing a more pushup style. That's my take on it.

No, it's that the pushup style she wears gives her hangover fat at the sides, by her armpits. She's not a chunky person, so it's a strange choice -- why not wear a fitted but still relatively flat chest that doesn't squeeze what she has into her armpits? I don't get it.

is that what's going on? i know it looks odd but i don't know why or how

and this is custom!

it's def the best she's looked since she woke up from a nap in time to appear at the convention this summer.

should she be wearing a necklace here?

The cut is "high and tight" like an attempt at modesty; the fix would be to increase the cup size, allowing her breast tissue to sit where it should (instead of being pushed up into her armpits in this dress, or "double bubbled" in the earlier). It has the opposite effect though, drawing attention to her goofy bustline. And without a necklace or something else to move your eyes to, it's just even more obvious.

I am no fan of hers, but your graphic description of her body is very uncomfortable to read. I hope you reconsider the way you talk about other people's bodies in this forum.

It looks better in this photo because she has her arms away from her body so you don’t get that “armpit fat” issue and you can see her waist. I still think this strapless sweetheart does not best suit her and/or needs to fit better. She has a nice figure and I’m not saying otherwise - the cut/fit create that issue in the armpit area.

Agree that this description is not the least bit graphic. The discussion of fit is very much the way someone who knows how to sew clothing or even just took a home ec class back in the day might talk about how to get an article of clothing to fit correctly.

Very odd to call this a graphic description of someone’s body.

I am telling you guys, she has to send her flunkies to this board to argue. There is no reasonable explanation for someone genuinely finding that description graphic.

This is the Beauty and Fashion Forum. People will talk about whether clothes fit, if makeup is garish, and whether something is too formal or informal for the venue, and more.

If you want to go to the Off Topic Forum and start a thread of Usha Vance's Family and Friends Are Here To Say Nice Things About her, we can give you that link.

Ha! I doubt she cares about her reputation on DCUM. People think different things. NBD.

They still haven't acknowledged my question from earlier. Was it "picking on" Jill Biden when I said she didn't have great style either? Was it "picking on" Kimberly Guilfoyle when I said she should be called Kimberly Gargoyle because that's what she looks like?

Why is Usha effing Vance of all people spared from ANY negative comments?!

Agreed. A pattern's cut and tailoring is part of analyzing fashion. We're supposed to be modern now and be able to discuss that women have breasts. Most women's evening wear makes strategic choices about what to showcase in the bodice area. Neck/neckline/shoulders/cleavage. So the topic of fit in the bust area is fair game.

Some of the cup-fitting problems discussed earlier were equally deeply discussed re: Apple Paltrow's debut dress. I thought that dress was a fashion disappointment.

I personally find it interesting that even prominent people do not have perfectly fitting clothes.

My secret hope is that the Vances will be the sane ones in this administration. I read Vance's book and some piece about Catholic spirituality he wrote that was linked to on DCUM. At least he tries to think hard about things even though I don't agree with his current politics. I just hope the Vances do what is best for the entire country. And I wish Usha Vance an upward fashion trajectory. I like that she errs on the side of modesty in her fashions. I find her look elegant when she is at her best. I would like to see that ivory/gold/pink swirled color dress in a better lit photo.

it's not graphic at all - it's actually a very technical description of the interaction of a dress with human flesh. not remotely salacious or leering, or even insulting.

Her hair looks good when she brushes it!

Melania looks great, though. Usha is going to try really hard to imitate her and won’t be able to.

Wait, is it appropriate to wear a white coat to a funeral? I mean I guess it’s not quite a funeral?

I’m sure she has protocol people now so I’m surely wrong?
