Clemson? Syracuse? Elon? Why?

Clemson and Syracuse are good schools with good athletics. They both draw kids from all over.

I don't know much about Elon but I would not group Elon with the other too.

+10, I have the displeasure of talking to various students for career help and referrals due to my industry. The kids in the ivies today are of disappointing quality, passionless, and simply only willing to do something for money. I don’t want my kid around that crowd.

Agree. Bad morals and values.

Sour grapes

I was the original poster. Perhaps I didn’t make my post clear, but I am an Ivy alum. My DS got into Uchicago recently, and I’m ecstatic, because it has proven much more to accept students impassioned by academics. There’s a lot more to school thank making money, and I think that should be underscored more often.

This is telling. Perhaps you do not understand that not everyone can get into an Ivy or Chicago. Also, I’ve found a lot of these kids are burned out by the end of HS (which is really sad) and they don’t want somewhere too rigorous. Or maybe they don’t want cold, dreary northern winters so they choose Clemson or Elon for that reason. You don’t seem very bright for an Ivy grad.

So there was absolutely no reason for your post other than some implicit, condescending criticism. Find a hobby, op.

Elon has a 14% yield rate. Enough said.

Better than Case Western’s at 12%. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make.

Case Western isn't the subject of the specific thread is it?

Why are these schools talked about so much on this forum? They seem pretty unremarkable, not terrible and not that great. What gives?

Clemson and Syracuse have good athletic programs.
