Wow you are rude. Ever consider being nice? Also, it's trues. Oklahoma prestige is on par with most prestigious southern schools.

"Prestigious southern schools?" What is a prestigious southern school? Most "prestige" is in the NE/Ivies/specific other private and state schools....none of which are "southern." The South is not really known for its prestigious academic institutions. They may be very old and very well known, some may have strong football teams.

DP. You can't be serious. Duke, UNC-CH, Rice, UT, etc? Do you live under a rock?

Rice and UT aren’t in the South.

OMG.

So pedantic. How does former slave state work for you?

STFU and send your kid to SUNY instead of wasting 1/2 million dollars on Northeastern.

DP.
Why would you think the PP has a kid at Northeastern? Very strange assumption. Sending a kid to SUNY instead of UVA would be a great choice if the price was lower. What's your problem?

Agreed. I went to Mary Washington and loved it.

I know someone who went to MW and she's now a bigshot journalist and one of the most genuine, caring people out there. Great school, too. You can have a great life/career after going to any public school in Virginia. On the flip side, I know plenty of UVA/W&M types who couldn't hold down a job after graduating. So much of it comes down to the person themselves vs. the school.

SUNY schools are suck now. I'd rather send my kid to Georgia or California public schools.

Nah. Had a girlfriend at UVA (Echols Scholar, lived in Monroe Hill), ended up as a college instructor making $60k per year. UVA really did nothing for her that she couldn't have gotten at GMU. Had a buddy at W&M who should have been a bigshot lawyer/doctor/politician but now hasn't worked for 20 years (and it's not cause he's wealthy). These stories are legion.

Agree. Also, Georgia Tech

Why grown adults care so much about prestige is beyond me. I thought we stopped thinking about this when we got into college.

lol why would you send your kid to college in Oklahoma instead of JMU? you people have truly lost the plot.

Because Oklahoma’s merit makes COA competitive while also offering more programs, sports, etc. So it’s an option for some who want to go OOS - oh and it’s higher ranked than JMU (132 vs 148).

But. JMU is a superior option for undergraduate education. It’s not even close.

And. Oklahoma. Shudder.
