No, I don't think Biden can hold up a magic wand and fix anything. |
This here is why the people in red states won't wake up. The denial is deep. |
Looks like Orlando is going to take a direct hit too, which they are not used to. |
You realize FEMA has the staff it has and the budget it has, right? And that the Republican Budget they tried to ram through cut FEMA funding by a lot. Get the house ack to pass supplemental funding do FEMA can hire. Because there are going to need to be professionals on the ground there for a long time. |
Hurricanes are predictable. One bad one a season is predictable. One devastating one every few years is predictable. Multiple hurricanes of this intensity causing this level of damage is not normal. And hurricane season is not over yet. |

Don't Repugnants want to decrease the federal workforce? Good luck getting help during these recovery operations in the future and no 750 for you. You reap what you vote for. Whomp Whomp. |
No. Funding originates in the House. That’s the Constitution. Even if every single Democrat in the House shows up, they can’t even turn on the lights, because Republicans control the House. Unless Mike Johnson, a Republican, calls the House into session and Republicans show up to vote, there is no finding. This is a Republican failure. Not BoTh SiDeS. Now, if the House asses funding and the Senate doesn’t go into session to vote on the House Bill or Biden doesn’t sign it, those are Dem failures. But for the moment, everyone is waiting on Mike Johnson to quit campaigning and tell his Republican members to get their a##es back to DC. Even if no Dems from the House showed up, they could technically pass supplemental funding. But Dems would look terrible in that case, and I expect my Dem member to show up if Johnson calls a special session. So what isn’t he. Oh yeah— his members want to campaign on FEMA failures. |
For the moment for Helene, maybe. But not for Helene long terms. And to all del with Milton while the Helene Ned’s so many resources. Nobody budgeted for a two front war. |
The Wall Street Journal had an interesting article about everyone trying to sell their homes in Florida. They supply is significantly out paced the demand. Condos aren't selling and they have a glut of homes on the market.
We tried to tell people. |
Too bad it’s illegal to mention climate change in any meaningful capacity in Florida. That’ll fix the problem, right? |
