Because when she was booking the shows she was the side act that nobody listened to. She is now the front act and being chased by paparazzi. |
Please. She needs to earn the money while she can. She can't disappear to deal with her issue now that she finally hit it big. |
Kayleigh and Chappell are the same person. Her work uniform includes using another name but she isn’t a different person. We all have personal and professional lives. If she needs to take time off work and go on stress leave, then do it but don’t haphazardly cancel concerts last minute. |
She courted fame but now can’t deal. She isn’t cut out for this after all. Her skin is way too thin. |
There are still similarities. Mental health issues are still safety and health issues. They just don’t get the same level of respect but I think the next gen is trying to change that. Frankly concerts get cancelled a lot. Weather, bomb threats, the singers voice. I just went to a Bruce Springsteen concert that was rescheduled from last year to this one. If music and artists are only important to you during concerts, I can’t relate. Simone dropped out and faced criticism as well. Mental health should count as a valid cancellation reason too. Chappell clearly has mental health issues. Eventually, if she keeps cancelling shows, the market will work and no one will get tickets. Maybe she will turn Tracy Chapman and love out of the public eye. Personally I would love her to still make music and don’t care as much about the performances. If that is the way she prefers to make music, so be it. |
Absolutely but it is sad because I still like her music a lot. Why does the crappy fandom And fame have to go along with being a musician? |
This is why most people would never choose it. But she did. |
If she got off social media and let a trained PR team handle it, it would help her immensely. Celebs who stay mentally healthy don’t get into back and forth with fans and foes online. They outsource it. |
She did and now maybe she will unchoose it. But I find it sad because she is talented and fun. It seems the only people who can “handle” the fame become kind of plastic, or at least their public persona becomes plastic and the music a bit boring. The anger directed at her is sort of crazy. Like people have all these expectations about pop princesses and fan’s right to musicians and concerts. Can’t we just enjoy the music and how the musician delivers that to you is up to them. cant we enjoy the music without all the fandom drama? I guess not, but I think we miss out on some talented people if that continues to be the stance. Who wants to be Taylor swift or Beyoncé? They aren’t free people at all- they are beholden to public opinion in a way that ends up stunting creativity in music. How can a musician create without all the fandoms crap? I guess many on DVUM think they can’t, but I think we are missing out on great songs if that is a hard line. |
I’m guessing people are mad because they paid a sheet ton to see her and she cancels last minute.
She could make music but not tour. |
That is definitely one factor, but the other is her attitude about it. People are bringing up Taylor and Simone, but they are very gracious with their fans. There’s been several instances where chapel acts annoyed at her fans, especially with the video telling people they need to use critical thinking skills in choosing how to vote, and the way she talked to photographers on the red carpet at the VMAs. I’m guessing she may be neurodivergent with the way she interacts with people, which unfortunately sometimes you come off way that you don’t intend. I hate to say it, but she sure is unlikable at times. |
Well, probably most people are unlikealbe at times. Simone definitely seems gracious with her fans, but she gets less of the paps and fandom than pop princesses do.. Taylor has always seemed manipulative with her fan base and Beyoncé seems like she tries to ice queen people away. Chapell is yelling at fans and the paps to get space. They all handle fame differently, but the thing is fans and fame are toxic. There is no denying that. And I agree there is neurodivergence or childhood abuse or some combination of the two at work in Chappell. But I still like her music and really enjoy singing to it. Hopefully, some kind of detente comes out of this for Chapelle. |
She should stop making political posts if she doesn't want anyone to disagree with her.
And the reality is that you don't get fame without fans. The idea that she only wants people to be interested and invested in her music but not her as the person behind the music just isn't realistic - especially when she the person posts a lot on many social media platforms about a lot of things other than music. Fans are going to want to talk to her or ask for a picture - that is the reality of fame. If she wants to go back to obscurity, she could drop completely out of the public eye for awhile then play small venues under a different stage name nd stage image. |
Yelling and acting inappropriate is not required. She could rise above it but she apparently wants to roll around in the muck. It’s not very surprising her fan base seems to be as unhinged and off kilter as she seems to be. Like attracts like. |
Yes fans feel they have a right to attend concerts once they pay for and purchase tickets. The artists make a ton of $$$ from them. If an artist doesn't want to do concerts at all, that is a valid choice. But scheduling concerts and cancelling will make ppl angry and they are entitl d to their feelings. |
