Harris Ad on Survivor on Rape

Anonymous
OP, should you have a repeat of this situation, pause the show as soon as the ad comes on, wait a few minutes, and then fast forward past the ad.

what time was the show?

My 7 yo was in bed at 8, so there wasn’t a conflict.

My DD is usually in bed by 8, asleep by 9. I thought the show would end at 9. I thought it was a 1 hour show.

It is the only live show we have ever watched together. We have football on live on weekends but she isn’t watching.

OP, you did nothing wrong watching a show with your kids. Other posters are just mean and judgmental.

But I agree that this ad is the reality that we are living in due to extreme GOP. We can’t just wish it away.

You made a comment about caring about babies. Are you talking about the babies who were raped by their parents?

I didn’t make the baby comment. I am pro choice but this is not the issue I am voting on. I did write I don’t like either candidate. I didn’t like Harris when she originally was running for president back in 2020 and I don’t like her now. I’m not sure which candidate I dislike more.

One candidate shoved a woman against a wall and sexually assaulted her and one did not.

I’m voting on economy, immigration and who I think can keep us from WW3. Abortion is not what I’m voting on.

I love when Republicans post as if they’re sober judges or character whose policy concerns are more important than everyone else’s.

Very low of people like you to minimize the very real fallout from rape for political points.

Not a great response but still a million times better than Kamala’s brilliant plan of government imposed food price controls.

She has NEVER proposed that. Never. Please show one place where that has come out of her mouth.

Anti-price gouging legilsation means strengthening and enforcing EXISTING laws and has nothing to do with "price controls"

I guess that's why for the first time in four years the Fed cut interest rates today. Open link and read it and weep.

What a moron. The reason we import a lot of produce is because it's cheaper to do so. That said I do think our ag industry needs a reckoning, we need to break up a lot of the industrial monoculture (miles and miles of nothing but soybeans or corn isn't good for beans) and grow more diverse crops locally rather than being so dependent on foreign countries for them. If we can subsidize those soybean and corn crops then why can't we help out farmers who actually FEED us?

Oh he said that? He also said leave it to states. Look what’s happening. The states are going toward complete bans and criminalization. So he laid the foundation for that to happen but then tries to score point by saying it’s ok for rape and incest? No. That’s not how it works. Take your “false lies” and shove it.

The Hadley Duval ad? By the time Hadley was OP’s daughter’s age, she’d been getting repeatedly abused by her stepfather for two years already.

Agree we should protect young children.

Did you read the article? Clearly not. The author talks about why price controls are bad. No where in the article does he cite where Harris is proposing price controls. He is asserting it, but without a citation.

He has also said women should be punished/jailed for having an abortion.

Yawn. This country has been talking about WW3 and its coming since the US supported the Taliban in the 1980's against the USSR. Americans swear that supplying the Taliban with weapons and money against Russia would lead to Russian attacks against Americans abroad. Every conflict or war there are rumblings of WW3. As for the economy, unemployment at historic lows; no actual recession that percolated under Trump and landed beautifully and softly; GDP up; stock market at roaring highs; interest rates coming down; and, energy prices down- wages up. BTW, immigration is currently at the 2019 levels.

If the GOP hasn't repealed Roe and put women in a position to fight for their rights, the commercial would not have been necessary. Why is a 7 year old watching survivor? Shouldn't she be in bed on a school night?

This ad actually made me not want to vote for Harris. Had the opposite effect for me.

Because you think child victims of rape should be forced to carry a pregnancy?

Sure. "Give me four more years of Trump's unhinged Presidency because I don't like an ad or where it was placed". Trump's relying on simple-minded voters like you. Don't let him down...

Yes, and any Republican statements about exceptions for rape, incest, IVF, saving the life of the mother, etc. are false promises because they would be subject to case by case litigation where Republicans have passed “personhood” laws declaring that every fetus or embryo is a person.

Also, Trump lied when he said that people in each state can vote on the abortion laws, because Republican-controlled states are all fighting to keep abortion referenda off the ballot, so that their gerrymandered legislatures and extremist appointed judges can impose severe restrictions that the majority of the state’s voters would never support.
