she's an advocate and was before this vid. She's not used. She's trying to change the world because her s. father rapped her when she was 7. She got pregnant at 12.

dead women. Two women have been named as preventable deaths because did not receive the medical treatment timely

In Georgia. That's just one state and that we know about.

In Georgia. That's just one state and that we know about.

I am quoting myself from the Roe thread. There’s got to be so many women maimed and killed by these policies, just strictly on numbers:
“In 2019 there were an estimated 5,507,000 pregnancies. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/nchs_press...a%2012%25%20decline.

Let’s just ectopic pregnancies as a complication, since they necessarily mean that the pregnancy is not going to term, one way or the other. There’s an average of 15.8 ectopic pregnancies per 1000 pregnancies (but that’s age adjusted and one source put the numbers closer to 19% in North America) https://www.thepermanentejournal.org/doi/10.7...ed%20incidence,0.001)%20(Table%201). Provided I have done the math right, that’s about 87,000 ectopic pregnancies per year. Not all of those are in forced birther states, of course.”

It’s not like any of this is going to be visible to anyone who’s not look at the statistical level. No one is going to know that their neighbor was in hemorrhagic shock after an incomplete miscarriage. No one is going to know or care about the lifelong health effects the survivors are going to experience. People like OP can just float blithely along, voting GOP and getting angry that her daughter may or may not have been made aware - in a totally respectful and not remotely graphic commercial - of the experiences of other children.

So instead of being able to watch a family show in peace, my daughter asked what impregnate, abuse and incest was. I’m not sure why this political ad had to he aired on a show for families. End vent.

You’re a crappy parent for letting your 7-year old watch Survivor.

The young woman on why she made the ad.

+1 I maybe might have sympathy for the OP if the rape victim ad came on during Bluey or Dora the Explorer. But I don't even let my tween watch Survivor.

Lower to force children to carry their rapists’ pregnancy to term.

Does this need to be on a tv ad?

Well, when the GOP ensures that a child victim of rape will bear a child, then perhaps it does.

This. I am very sick of GOP scum trying to stick their heads in the sand and ignore the suffering they are causing. OP, have you no shame or decency?

Those are perfectly acceptable topics for a 7 year old. You, as the parent, put them in age appropriate terms. Haven’t you already taught about good touches and bad touches and private parts?

It sucks but I'd also be more worried that my 7 year old daughter would have any of those happen to her and not have the right to abort. We can't raise girls in a fantasy reality land (hello, you're watching Survivor!) and not teach them about actual reality.

Agree completely. Kids have always known more than parents are totally comfortable discussing. But better for them to get info from a trusted source and to feel they can ask questions.

+1

And to reassure their child that that’s very rare and the child would be believed and taken care of. Talk to your kids about this stuff in an age appropriate way, though OP struggles obviously with “age appropriate.”

Exactly. Not just putting heads in the sand but pearl clutching and calling it inappropriate.

Thanks for reminding me that Survivor had started up the seizing.

I hate Political season because the ads are nonstop. Survivor is a family show and a rape ad isn’t the best choice for that slot. There are other effective ads they can choose for that slot.

Parents, including conservative parents, need to watch those ads, family time is the perfect time. I hope they have them during football games too.
