| I mean have you been to Trader Joe’s OP? |
| Yes schmuck people eat the frozen meals. So stupid. |
|
We don’t eat frozen meals like Lean Cuisines (but I ate them daily for lunch in my 20s).
However we do buy some very nice frozen entree items that we serve along with side dishes cooked from scratch. Mostly Indian and Asian items from TJ or H mart that I couldn’t cook from scratch myself and get as good results. We eat these things maybe once every 3 weeks. Delicious! |
| I eat the Trader Joe's frozen meals! I don't eat other frozen meals! I keep my flour in the freezer! |
| I have a weakness for Indian frozen meals by Deep. They are nice and spicy. Sometimes you can find them at safeway or Giant but mostly I buy them at HMart of Lotte. |
| I wondered the same thing when I saw a Redbox machine outside the grocery store - do people still watch dvd’s? And without having to crowdsource the answer, I concluded yes, they do, because there are rental machines all over the place and I’m assuming Redbox isn’t a charity service. So you could similarly look around and see grocery store freezers full of frozen meals at for profit stores, and surmise, yes, people do indeed eat them. |
| Yeah, mostly stuff from Trader Joes or Asian grocery stores though |
DVDs. Gross. |
| Have you been to Trader Joe’s? Their frozen stuff actually looks decent. |
| Some of the popular food delivery apps also come frozen. They also look good but pricey. |
| I eat them for lunch on my in-office days. Used to bring leftovers but usually don’t have any at this phase in life (teen and preteen boys). They’re cheaper and healthier than the lunch options near my office. |
| Confession: I buy these things as an occasional comfort item. I was a latchkey kid, and our freezer was usually stocked with chicken pot pie or salisbury steak or turkey meal for occasions when both of my parents were so busy working and I would have to feed my younger siblings and myself. My friends are all amazed that I actually eat this garbage, because I am quite the foodie these days. However, there is definitely a nostalgia factor to the cravings. |

Trader Joe’s kung pao chicken is really good.
I also like the Evol goat cheese and portabello ravioli. |

My teenagers used to eat the Stouffer’s ones occasionally. This week DS15 happened upon one in the freezer, heated it up, started eating it and put his fork down. “Mom,” he said, “this is so salty and gross. I can’t believe I used to eat this. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat this.”
So now I am curious, did the recipe change or did DS’ tastebuds mature? |
| The frozen meals at Trader Joe's are pretty good. I especially like the curries. Yum! |
