You are so obtuse I wonder how you've made it this far in life. |
At this point I'm calling troll |
I asked for two weeks off to take a trip abroad and it was rejected because "no one gets two weeks at a time. You can have one week." Which (a) after 11 years at one workplace I think you could bend the rules and (b) it was false! People of foreign origins were routnely allowed up to three weeks to visit their home countries. One guy visited home after 6 months employment.
I quit on a Friday afternoon. Wednesday morning they told me I could have the two weeks and I already had a new job lined up. |
I understand everything people said. I also know my workplace and how discussion with them is futile. I agree it would make sense at many workplaces. |
Nah. Op just seems to be someone who is meek and instead of at least trying to talk to them automatically decides it won't happen so why bother. |
So did you confront them prior to quitting? Or did you just quit and then they tried to get you back? Good for you either way! |
I like your style. Putting your 2 weeks notice is a great tactic but you have to be willing to follow through with it. |
So what if it's futile. Rock the boat! |
Right. There is a 14 day rule. You didn't comply with it. End of story. They aren't being ________ (fill in your whines). They are being efficient. You are the one who asked to break the rule. That is all that is going on here. Next time, ask 14 days in advance. Problem solved |
DP, I mean that is going to make an even bigger situation if they deny and she calls out sick. I'd probably leave it alone and email that you are sick. Then look for another job. But, manage your emotions around this, OP. You need the job for not only insurance but college tuition. Age discrimination is real. They are how they are but you do not have to be so spun up. Be glad to have it for now and look for something else better. I'm sorry. I hope your child enjoys the tour. |
The tour spot just became available, did you net read the OP? |
They are not complying with their own rules either as they still have not approved a vacation request I put in weeks ago and they are supposed to do it within 7 days. So sure, they are "efficient"...when it suits them. |
Then why don't you notify them of this? |
I already have. |
DP - some workplaces are like this. OP is venting. Why do you think you know her workplace better? OP, email that you are sick and safe travels to the tour. No good deed goes unpunished sometimes. |
