Again, no one has suggested isolating for more than 10 days. These decisions are specific to individual circumstances. Kids should not be excluded from school for such long periods based on the possibility that they might be contagious (based on a weak positive rapid test). Most workplaces won't allow that either. However, if you have vulnerable people in your life and you are getting a strong positive on day 7 (as my daughter just did), you might want to take that into consideration. Maybe you skip that visit with Grandpa at the assisted living facility and wear a mask in the office around your co-worker whose spouse is undergoing cancer treatment. [/quote] You want people to isolate for 10 days? That's preposterous. |
What do you think the positive test means? It means you have the antibodies that could be in you 30-45 days later. Current science seems to be that you are contagious only the first day or two of symptoms -- if that. There is one study that seems to suggest by the time you have symptoms you are not contagious. All of these tests make no sense. The first one to show you have it sure but after that it makes no sense. |
People are still dying from Covid. If someone knowingly has Covid, or strongly suspects it and does nothing, you very well could be part of a serious or fatal infection chain. I can't imagine not masking if I was infectious and around others. Same with flu. |
Why are you so upset someone else you don't know is testing? Weird |
+100 they have had tests like these overseas for a long time now, they're even free in some places and like $1-3 at some stores check out: https://ihealthlabs.com/blogs/news/ihealth-unveils-breakthrough-3-in-1-at-home-15-minute-antigen-test-for-covid-19-and-flu-a-b |
This sounds like a rationale. Please share your citations. |
Just highlighting this response for the poster who says "nobody is suggesting isolating for more than 10 days". |
I know a few people with long covid and it has drastically impacted their lives since they were previously healthy. I would rather not end up like that. |
Not PP but I'm a Christian and guess what? I still mask. GROW UP. |
They said masking, not isolating. What they are saying is their personal belief, in any event. Do you deny that if you are out and about with COVID and are around people, you could transmit it to other people? |
Well, you are completely conflating masking and isolating, moron. |
I think you failed to note the sarcasm. -Atheist who masks |

There is no need to mask for 10 days if you are feeling fine. |
Yes, at-home strep test. Been at the Ped's office for 5 tests in about 10 weeks. Only one negative. |
