A word of warning about this round of COVID

Anonymous
Here is the Flirt timeline for those curious. I was exposed Tuesday afternoon,
I started having small stomach pains Wednesday, and the food tasted off. Thursday got a sore throat. The sore throat and earache worsened on Friday; the test was positive in the evening. He was doing great energy-wise.
Saturday morning felt like all my bones and muscles were broken, and I had a fever, not high.
I took a cold and flu and felt better within an hour. I was able to do a bunch of stuff in the house.
Today, I woke up fine with my energy full-on, still earache and sore throat.

Covid vaccines have also been implicated as a driver of excess mortality during the pandemic; there is no way to parse that out in this study.

This sounds equivalent to saying, “Studies have not shown any evidence that the Covid vaccine was a driver of excess mortality during the pandemic.” In other words, you’re stating something, then commmenting that you have no evidence to show it.

PP, who posted the line, I was feeling good, not he...

I test. My son has a pre-existing condition that does not mix well with Covid. Why are you so unable to think outside of your own little world?

For what purpose? You're not going to prevent him from being exposed to covid regularly without locking him in a bubble. Whatever condition he has likely dwarfs the risks of covid itself.

I haven't isolated the whole time but have tried to limit close exposures to avoid passing it on.

This is my third time having Covid and definitely the longest I have been sick. I have to fly again in a week. Airplanes are viral nightmares.

I think it is only respectful with any flu or virus to limit giving it to others as some people get taken down much harder than others and some don't have the resources to be off sick for days / weeks. Covid or not, if you are sick, stay home if you can until the contagion period is over.

I wear a mask on flights except when eating. The air is recirculated and not the cleanest. I should have masked on airplanes before COVID too.

I’m not worried at the grocery where I’m continually moving, but I’ll consider wearing a mask anywhere I have to sit still for hours or at a doctor’s office. I was just in a doctor waiting room with two hacking people.

COVID almost killed me last year, and I was hospitalized despite being a healthy weight, reg blood pressure, etc. So, I’ll do what I want.

I’m not bothered at all by people wearing masks, but I don’t understand this logic, and I think it’s things like this that fuel that mockery that some people engage in. Covid doesn’t care if you’re eating or moving quickly. If you’re going to mask, you kind of have to go all in for it to make sense.

I think it's really, REALLY messed up masks are not required in doctors offices. Insane really.

Why? Doctors and nurses have tough jobs and don't want to have to do them while wearing masks all day.

If there's a legitimate risk, you ought to be able to find practices willing to do it.

I mean I guess if Paxlovid would be helpful to PP’s kid in makes sense for them to test in their specific situation. But for most healthy non neurotic people - we’re not testing.

I don’t agree. Don’t you think you’re more likely to catch it sitting in an enclosed plane than briefly walking by someone in a grocery store?

The plane thing makes no sense. Mask the whole time except then you’re eating? Covid knows not to mess with you during that time? Please explain how this makes sense.

I have health issues. Multiple doctors said no to Paxlovid. I am still very careful. Akways mask, rarely go out but some selfish person like you gave it to me and it was two weeks of h#ll. You must be so pleased with yourself and your arrogance. You are missing that some people are not healthy and your selfish behavior has serious consequences for them.

DP The majority of covid cases are asymptomatic; many don't even know they have it.

NP possibly if you’re exposed for shorter time, you get less of a viral load and it doesn’t affect you as much. I’m not sure but I remember during all the covid hype, there was discussion about reducing viral load.

This ridiculous vitriol towards healthy people living life as normal is why everyone thinks you’re nuts.

Seriously. If PP is wearing a mask then it’s all good. No need for me to wear one too.
