My 15 yo DD was obsessed with the Alabama rush videos on TikTok. Almost every girl rushing on there did an OOTD that included GG sneakers.

I didn't even know what GG was until
I saw those videos! I felt bad for the kids wearing them because I thought they were wearing old dirty sneakers because they were poor🤣. The only people I see wearing them anymore are some of the mom's in my kid's private school. But it's a very small minority of moms. And I never see them on the street anymore.

GG sneakers are Gucci. That’s why I was confused. Styles have changed a lot since Golden Goose came out like 20 years ago. Golden Goose hasn’t changed their style and they are very dated looking.

When are you ā€œon the streetā€? The people rich enough to afford them aren’t on public transport. They Uber door to door or they’re rich NW DC and suburban moms driving lux SUVs

Wearing them on the street would reveal your prole and overextended. The fashionable moms who wear GG are driving Tesla Model X, Range Rover, Porsche Macan, or at least a new loaded Chevrolet Tahoe in the burbs.

There are no fashionable moms in DC. I say this as a mom.

Context, dear. The outgoing attractive wealthy moms who act like you’re irrelevant and invisible tend to be fashionable vis a vis average middle aged moms.

Acting like others are "irrelevant and invisible" is a sport in this area. Doesn't mean it means anything - nor does the person doing it. It is a facade for those who are actually insecure, irrelevant and invisible, and they know it, so they act out, accordingly. Secure people don't feel the need to act like a-holes.

Many commenters on here project their envy and resentment of the rich pretty cool moms at their kid's school, that much is clear. Those rich cool popular whatever you want to call them moms are still wearing Golden Goose sneakers and still driving their luxury SUVs which they seem to get detailed every other day.

LOL those "cool moms" will have no money in their golden years.

Why are you still here, Fangirl?

They are still very much in style according to Vogue and various other trend spotting sites although they aren’t the ā€˜it’ shoe at the moment.

I tried the Golden Goose, the sambas and the vejas and found them all super uncomfortable. I ended up buying a pair of Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers. They are stylish and super comfortable. Unfortunately they stopped selling them in the US a couple of months ago. But I’m throwing them out there as an option in case someone is traveling overseas in the summer and wants to try them on. They aren’t expensive either. Probably the same price as the sambas.

Some styles are more comfortable than others..I like having a few pairs - they go with everything. I actually like that they are "dirty looking". I hate when white sneakers get dirty, and these alleviate that. Genius. The loafers are so comfy and well made too.

They are not Gucci and they are ugly and uncomfortable.

I mean... They're not uncomfortable. I've tried a few styles and one was uncomfortable. The others were soft and fit well

Still huge in NYC, Chicago, LA.. see them all the time. They're extremely well made. GG is only "out" if they're not in your budget. Just sayin.

They are between $300 - $600 for sneakers with glitter and stars. I’ll pay over $600 for shoes or boots but not so called fashion sneakers. Meanwhile kids have 4 figures worth of sneakers especially Nike.

Was inside Target yesterday and saw one of their mannequins dressed with GG knockoffs. Interpret that how you'd like.

What color combo of Sambas or Rag and Bone is the best and most versatile, just white on white? I’d like some for wearing with khaki pants, but not willing to pay for GG. If I wanted to spend that much I’d get Gucci sneakers.
