Are these still really in style or on their way out? I’m looking for new sneakers and I think some are cute, but the price tag seems a bit outrageous. Wondering if I should splurge or if they will be out of style soon. Any other cute more affordable in style sneakers recs?

We must have been at the same event, because I noticed the same thing. These shoes are out IMO, but I’ve never been one to care what others think, so more power to them!

This is so deluded. Is this a defense mechanism cope because you don't have a pair? How are they out when you literally say you JUST saw them being worn by all the cool wealthy moms at your kid's school? If they're so out and irrelevant, how did you notice so many cool moms wearing them?

DP. Do you not understand that by the time the "cool moms" are wearing something, it's out? Lol.

What I understand is you’re trying way too hard to make digs and you are not a cool rich mom.

I'm not super fashionable but even I know anyone still wearing Golden Goose either recently got them on sale somewhere, or feel stupid they spent so much money on them several years ago that they want to get their money's worth. But the "cool" moms aren't wearing them anymore and have moved on.

Not at my kid's private school. I don't own a pair but I see the posh cliquey moms in their giant luxury SUVs still wearing them.

Are they also still wearing the headbands?

My 15 yo DD was obsessed with the Alabama rush videos on TikTok. Almost every girl rushing on there did an OOTD that included GG sneakers.

I didn't even know what GG was until
I saw those videos! I felt bad for the kids wearing them because I thought they were wearing old dirty sneakers because they were poor🤣. The only people I see wearing them anymore are some of the mom's in my kid's private school. But it's a very small minority of moms. And I never see them on the street anymore.

When are you “on the street”? The people rich enough to afford them aren’t on public transport. They Uber door to door or they’re rich NW DC and suburban moms driving lux SUVs

Wearing them on the street would reveal your prole and overextended. The fashionable moms who wear GG are driving Tesla Model X, Range Rover, Porsche Macan, or at least a new loaded Chevrolet Tahoe in the burbs.

There are no fashionable moms in DC. I say this as a mom.

Context, dear. The outgoing attractive wealthy moms who act like you’re irrelevant and invisible tend to be fashionable vis a vis average middle aged moms.

I don't even see them in the consignment shops anymore when I drop my clothing seasonally. They are so out even the cast-offs are gone.

That's why I give the benefit of the doubt that they got them like 6 years ago and they still have some life in them. I didn't think people were actually still buying these for $600 long after the trend is over. But it's definitely not a fashion statement.

This is the beauty and fashion forum. We are talking about real fashion, not some kind of comparative fashion. Take your weird class warfare elsewhere.

I live in what I assume is a similar neighborhood and fashion sneakers definitely a thing. Not on the courts, but happy hours at outdoor restaurant/pool bar, club meetings etc. Definitely see Golden Goose, Veja, Sambas, on trend NB & Nike. Also form what I observe most woman rotate through 3-6 outfits a day. Gym/yoga, court sports, pool, boat, errands/school drop off/casual entertaining in afternoon or morning depending on when doing other activities, and dinner if going to dinner at one of neighborhood restaurants or going out.

Troll harder.

Not trolling. I gave the scenarios. My neighbor was on her 3rd outfit before noon today.

Acting like others are "irrelevant and invisible" is a sport in this area. Doesn't mean it means anything - nor does the person doing it. It is a facade for those who are actually insecure, irrelevant and invisible, and they know it, so they act out, accordingly. Secure people don't feel the need to act like a-holes.

Why anyone would wear GG at any point is totally beyond me. You can ignore a trend, sister, when the trend is this horribly bad.

Head over to a sorority house at smu and you will.

Golden Goose are tacky with a child like star on them and glitter like a school project.

The mainstream designers have gotten into the game. Prada put their triangle on some sneaker and charge $1,100. If you want crystals glued on the price goes up $1,500. Gucci, Loewe, and others are all over $600.
Balanciaga has the ugliest things anyone has ever put on their feet for almost $2,000.

I’m mad about On Cloud. I was looking for New Balance 327 but couldn’t find them so I got the On Cloud and they are not comfortable at all. I’m looking for lightweight comfortable walking sneakers and so many are too heavy.

Are they lightweight, good for walking long distances?
