It's just Dh and my siblings/spouses/kids, our parents, our closest 5 family friends (parents and kids) and our next door neighbor family we are really close with.

Mimosas are on because I have 2 bottles of champagne that didn't get used on new Yeats.

Dh and I were planning on making all the pancakes the night before together after the kids go to bed and then warming them up in the oven in the morning but now you all have me feeling like I'm crazy

You are a trouper and deserve to find another job soon.

If any of the guests offer to bring something (and it seems as though they might), take them up on it. Fruit salad, yogurt, whatever.

I am surprised by the recommendations to make sheet pan pancakes. My kids wouldn't go for that at all. Reheated circles, no problem.

This sounds fun! Since it’s mostly family, I would ask them if they could bring a side. Fruit, eggs, muffins, drinks, etc.

If all else fails, the Eggo brand pancakes are pretty good if you need a few more pancakes and run out of steam.

My sister once threw a birthday party with o lt Chex mix a s a cake.

Syrup, butter, sprinkles is PLENTY!

Keep it simple. She’s 3. and I’m sorry about your job.

I would call my closet GFs among the 32 adults and say “ooopps….I’ve got 60 people coming and I thought only 20 would come. Help” I guarantee my friends would help and we’d turn it into a crazy event. A couple of people make pancakes, someone makes bacon or sausage etc. This is what friends are for. Get the husbands to help as well with bloody Mary’s and mimosas.

A pancake party sounds adorable. Pre-make the pancakes now and freeze so you can warm up for the party. Put out a make-your-own waffle station for the adults so they can have fresh food with no effort on your part. Bacon would be nice if you can swing it. Otherwise, don't bother.

This sound fun.

I posted earlier.

Eggs made to order are a great idea. Just have people put their own toppings (mushrooms, cheese, spinach or peppers) in a muffin tin and you pour the eggs over it and bake it. You will likely need 2 dozen eggs which is still less expensice than bacon.

Sheet pan pancakes are a bad idea. You are better off buying the frozen pancakes from the grocery store that come in an 18 or 24 pack for less than $5.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help if then party is mostly family

Eggs are a good idea. We love their waffles.

Every single person we invited said yes which I was not expecting at all so we have like 60 people coming to our house. I very unexpectedly lost my job on Friday so now I am in a tailspin and stressing about money. I'm going to serve pancakes (premaking them the night before) with a bunch of toppings- berries, nuts, chocolate chips, lemon curd, whipped cream, etc and a big fruit salad. Then I'm doing OJ and apple juice, coffee, tea, and mimosas. Do I need to serve additional sides like bacon and sausage too or do you think I can get by with what I have currently?

How does a 3 year old even know 60 people?

Serve pancakes with fruit, fake maple syrup and pray 50 don't show up.

Relatives and a few friends. Just supplement with other food.

I’m not trying to be a debbie downer or shit on OP because it’s awesome how much effort and thought they have put into this..

But.. I’d personally, never go all out and stress myself out over a 3 y/o’s birthday… if your kid remembers a birthday that young they are very much in the minority. Most adults don’t have but a couple memories older than 5 or 6, and even when they do it’s not anything more than a couple flashes/general awareness of the day.

This is not even an opinion. It’s a fact, there’s research about early childhood memories and it confirms what I’m saying.

Sounds like a good party though, good luck OP and happy birthday to your kiddo!

And yet you ARE being a Debbie Downer, and misguided to boot.

Parents don't do things for their kids, especially little kids, to make memories. They do it to build relationships by having fun together.

I hope you don't have kids yet.

Have a party because you want to have a party.

60 is a lot of people but if you have the space for it, go for it.

As for food, I’m known for being a great hostess, party planner and chef. I would not serve pancakes that were previously frozen. I would buy hungry jack frozen pancakes and waffles. Set up a fixins bar with juice and coffee. If you are going to have that many people, make sure it is nice. Have fun!
