Does everyone get Botox?

I have no doubt a little Botox and fillers could make me look better. But if I do it, then I'll want to keep doing it. It get's expensive! I'd rather stick that money in a money market account and grow it. I'd rather have "deep 11s" and deeper pockets than a smooth forehead and have to work an extra 5 years to pay for it.

But as this becomes the norm, now women whose faces age more normally will face more age and looks-based discrimination. Great.

We could also just not.

Agree. But now the women who look younger will get the better jobs.

I disagree. Even men need to care for their looks to be successful as they age.

Botox has been in use since before 1989.

I have been getting small amounts since I turned 40 (43 now). Biggest reason is I have a 1 crease (not an 11- a single crease) between my brows that is otherwise very deep and permanently red. It makes me look angry and is distracting to people. It almost looks like I got hit in the face with something. I also have one side of my face, particularly my brow, that droops more than the other. Botox gently corrects all that. Don't have much otherwise in the way of wrinkles (though getting saggy). No one and I mean no one (husband, family) has any idea I do it! I actually find the plumped and overly smooth look very off putting and will not be going that route as I age more. Rather than wrinkles. Just not red asymmetrical ones.

*rather HAVE wrinkles.

It seems that everyone in Hollyweird are getting it.

Celebrities seem to say they get it in such a casual manner now.

I am fifty-five & have had very oily skin since adolescence which I absolutely detested in my youth.
My face always looked to be sweating!

But well into my 50’s now ~ my skin is now moist + unlined which is a huge blessing at this stage in my life. 😃

No. I stopped as due to my anatomy, it not only makes my eyebrows look off (and I look older due to it), but I also require a lot of units due to thick skin and I metabolize it very quickly. I may get it twice a year to just keep 11's at bay (only a sprinkle in forehead lines as I don't care about those), but I don't know. I never like how I look with it.

PP, also have very thick skin and still oily at 53. I do have light static horizontal forehead lines but am I supposed to be line free at 53?!

I lost a lot of babies, my marriage, a parent, a beloved dog, my grandparents all back-to-back-to-back and it showed in my face. I started getting botox in my 11s around the eyes a bit and to help the corners of my mouth not droop so much.

I have. It lasted maybe a month more than Botox and cost $50 more. It's worn off now and I'm debating which one to do next.

As if life ends at 60-70 and you just don't care anymore? Just you wait.

That’s the point. It will never end. And that’s a terrible thing.

+1 but I'm 46

I'm not encouraging you one way or the other. I'm 52 and started around 50. I only go every 6 months. My aesthetician recommends every 3-4 months but that's too expensive for me and I feel like the effects are still mildly there at 6 months.

I’d gladly pay $50 more for another month. Botox seems to be wearing off quicker for me now for some reason. Did you notice if Daxxify kicks in quicker? I read somewhere that it does. Were you pleased with your results with Daxxify? Was it similar to Botox?

No. Will be 58 this year!

It's not noticeable. Many years into my marriage, my husband started going off about crazy women who get Botox - he lives with me and has no idea.

I'm a new poster but we share all accounts but DH has no idea. He doesn't question or look at what I spend. Sorry your husband is cheap.
