Does everyone get Botox?

Anonymous
I’m Asian and I’m 45. Most of my friends my age get Botox and they’ve been doing so for a few years now. I don’t plan on doing it. I don’t have wrinkles yet or white hair. Based on how my mom looks at 70, I think I’ll be ok without. But my friends all look fabulous for their ages!

I think I look pretty good now and so what is enough. Not willing to get Botox every 3-4 months indefinitely. I have a hard enough time carving out time for haircuts, annual exams, dental check ups, mammograms, all the kids appts and orthodontics. Oh and I get IPL yearly. That is all I’m willing to manage

+1, 43. We’re all getting older. It shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of.

I'm 59. It makes me feel better.... my eyelids don't feel so heavy after getting botox and I look a bit refreshed. I do it maybe 2 or 3 times/year... wish it lasted a bit longer than it does. My face is starting to sag so am considering fillers.

I was beginning to develop 11s and those are gone. But the biggest difference for me is my eyes. My crows feet are smoothed but more importantly my eyes are more open and alert! At some point after age 41-42, I noticed my eyebrows had started to droop and it looked like I had hooded eyes. Botox subtly lifted it all back into place.

I would like to “wake up “ my eyes. Does it look natural looking for you? I really shouldn’t spend money on Botox (college kids), but I have been trying so many lotions, creams etc. Some are not worth it so that’s wasted money.

It’s subtle and just makes me look well-rested. I don’t have that look of being perpetually surprised or anything, which I’ve seen on women who get Botox.

DP. Who said anything about being ashamed? It’s really no different than dyeing your hair to cover grays or putting on makeup.

The issue is I feel it looks really good and subtle at first, but then so obvious within a couple of years? Like the outer parts of the eyebrows go way higher than the inner parts so it looks like a perpetual frown or intense frown/smile look when smiling. Do others notice this too?

It doesn’t stay in the skin the way fillers can, I think this is the result of people amping up dosage and getting carried away

I think my point was that after a certain point, everyone seems to amp up the dosage even if they said they weren’t going to. Maybe the lower dosage doesn’t work anymore? That’s what stops me, but maybe I am not taking into consideration the women who do it and it’s not obvious (to me).

No. No one I know gets Botox, but maybe my circle isn't in that socio-economic group that thinks Botox is normal. We're middle class (not DCUM middle class) in the MD suburbs.

Well aren’t you all lucky? More hating on white women on this thread. I bet seeing a blonde woman makes you want to throw up, doesn’t it?

I think PP was just stating an observation on her part. I have noticed the same. How Skin ages, on average, can be different by race. I don’t think it’s controversial or white-hating at all. Also, I assumed PP was white based on her post.

Or you just don’t know (more likely).

When do you stop? I imagine it looks great and natural in your 30s-40s. But once you hit menopause and 50+ and your neck is sagging, cheeks/jowls are sagging, fine lines are multiplibg quickly, marionette lines are there, facial fat and collagen are dramatically decreased, I don’t think having a smoother forehead really moves the needle as far as making you look younger/more attractive. It is a drop in the bucket on the effects of age and hormone changes.

It’s not just for the forehead. As that happens, you can inject marionette lines and the neck cords. Because yes it looks weird to have a smooth forehead with an aging bottom of the face.

I am 60 and have deep 11 lines. Botox won't help. May want to consider before they become deep.

Botox won’t help 11 lines once they are deep?

It may lessen them, but it probably won't disappear them.

My 11s were pretty deep and have mostly disappear but it took about a year or more. Maybe 3-4 treatments.

Marionette lines and neck cords would need filler, not botox. So as the bottom of your face starts to age now you have to add in filler to keep up.

I JUST had it done last week with Botox. Of this I’m sure.
