Come on. Trinity has only 16 pct of its students even submitting scores. 1470 is the upper 75th percentile. You think they are rejecting a male full pay ED applicant with a score like that? They would be insane to do so. RD maybe for yield protection.

PP here. I reread and realize that you wrote "any of these schools ED" - yes, that's true, but not most, if any, of the schools on the original list.

Again let’s get real. Only 26 pct of Dickinson reported scores (ACT or SAT). The high end of the SAT range was 1413. A 1450 would make a student one of the highest scoring kids on campus. A school like Dickinson is desperate for full pay students and desperate for men. If a 1450+ full pay male applied ED with a reasonably strong transcript and no red flags, they would uncork the champagne.

I posted just a bit ago. My comment was directed at the original list, not the subsequent suggestions. Don't think Dickinson didn't show up until some pages into this thread.

I think the bottom line is at the very reputable lacs, if you are unhooked you need almost perfect academics (high scores, really strong transcript) to have a shot. But imperfection starts to become ok as you get down the list into the 20-40 range.

This has been fairly clear for now four admission cycles. Caught some offguard for the HS '21 class - there was a ton of course correcting at our DCs' independent starting with HS '22 class, including one of our DCs. There were some hiccups, but mainly worked out in spring '22. If anything, the girls in the class tended to have more messy times. The subsequent classes have been even more smooth. It's not perfect or always successful, but most parents and students seem to grasp that there are a lot of reaches here unlike 5+ years ago.

It's not being kind to mislead OP, even if unintentional or based on faulty info. Your suggestion that many of those schools would be great ED candidates are not realistic, not at all. Maybe Bates, maybe Pitzer, but the rest of the list seem truly off base. Our DCs are HS '21 and '22 at a regarded independent and those schools would not work ED for a student with a mix of As/Bs in classes of good, not great, rigor.

Pitzer enrolls 250 students per year. You're telling me that they can't find 250 students with better stats than OP's kid?

Yes, perhaps if he was coming from a "name brand" school like Thomas Jefferson or Exeter or Sidwell. But not some random public.

So I'm off on Pitzer. The rest pretty much holds.

Coming from a top private? Only the T5 or so are reachy, especially if one EDs.

For Econ, Trinity is a great choice. It’s a great department and the alumni network is very strong in that major.
