To discipline that one teacher spouting antisemitic conspiracy theories was valid but they’ve gone off the deep end since then with any criticism of Israel or support for Gaza leading to disciplinary action. It’s like 1984. Big Brother is watching you, in and out of the classroom.
OK, so if a teacher posts "there are only 2 genders," you'd be OK with that? I mena, it's true but MCPS would consider that hate speech.

That’s kind of irrelevant but yes. What’s your point?

You can grow up in a Jewish family that fully supports Israel but obviously a child growing up in a Palestinian family might think differently. And everyone else will have some type of opinion also. Why shut down all conversation and discussion? I understand if Palestinians and Israelis who are actually experiencing the war talk about feeling unsafe but when American Jews living in Bethesda or NYC start screaming how they feel unsafe, it is a little ridiculous.

You have no clue what you're talking about, including the antisemitic environment in NYC. There was another attack just two days ago. This doesn't affect you personally, you aren't informed, but you think you know it all.

What does that have to do with the subject at hand? Is it somehow related to support of civilians in Gaza?

As an FYi, some of those “conspiracy theories” were true and based on Israeli-leaked events from the 1990s. It was unclear whether the posts referred to new events or those historic ones, such as organ harvesting of “prisoners” who die without prior consent. I invite you to read the Newsweek story on this: https://www.newsweek.com/israel-organ-harvesting-allegations-explained-1847101. As the article says, it’s not clear if these are new allegations or just restatements of the same ones from the 1990s. Remember also that many of these “prisoners” who die in Israeli custody aren’t ever charged or told what they are being held for. When they die, harvesting their organs without permission happened…

Again, this isn’t meant to be political. It’s relevant to the situation of MCPS assertions of antisemitism in personal social media posts by MCPS employees. Some of the posts seem so outlandish, but they are actually sometimes true, but with the current framing being misleading.

No it’s not. It’s not in any way related to Palestine. You are introducing a completely different topic.

Didn’t she also claim that the Oct 7 attack didn’t happen?

If I remember correctly, that was part of a larger thing with just one piece taken out. The full assertion was something like many of the deaths didn’t happen from Hamas, but from Israeli response (e.g., helicopter) mistakenly shooting indiscriminately and hitting many civilians attending the festival also. There have been leaks indicating some of that did happen. Thus, many took it to the next level and circulated statements that “most” of Oct 7 deaths were actually self-inflicted in the response. While her posts may have been misleading and even wrong in some cases, even a claim that Oct 7 attacks didn’t happen isn’t antisemitism.

Maybe, but given the history of Holocaust deniers, I can see why it could be thought to be so.

No more than people would say similarly about people claiming that Arabs just attacked Israel when it was formed. The history is far more complicated.

Lots of people get attacked in NYC and everywhere. Would you rather be a black person walking down a street at night in a white neighborhood? Asians had a bad time during Covid and still do. Sikh people also get targeted and so do Muslims. The point is that horrible people are everywhere and it is not just Jewish people who are unsafe. We need to respect each others humanity not tear people down

The topic is MCPS's uneven enforcement of policy.
