A PP said Duke is 35% Asian so there are definitely Asians attending in droves |
There must be a Duke intern spamming this board. No one refers to Duke as T10. Many Asians prefer Cornell or Brown to Duke. Both have a better CS programs. Cornell also has better engineering and business programs. Duke is not particularly strong in any subjects. It is in the same league of Vandy and Emory. |
The entire OP has to be from Duke intern. We’re really supposed to believe that “our counselor” received an email from Duke admissions who shared application numbers, and then that counselor called up OP. Sounds like some kids are home from college and bored. |
Anecdotally, every man I’ve ever met that is a Duke alum is an obnoxious, arrogant, dbag. I can’t stand this dad on my kid’s sport team who outright said he knows more than the coach and is always running his mouth- last week he was wearing a Duke hat. Go figure. |
All of this speculation because OPs kid’s counselor got an email?? |
You sound very bitter |
Historically duke didn’t sandbag Asian applicants as much as ivies did Duke had higher Asian percentages than even UPenn 20 years ago |
What’re you on about? It’s pretty obvious that the counselor told the kid who then told OP. And apparently it’s been confirmed on Reddit |
Think that's on point for Duke grads But also think there's a possibility that this generation of Duke students aren't total dbags. But being a country club dbag is Duke. It's always been their thing |
Duke accepts all the Asians rejected from HYP. Not that hard to understand. |
Yale accepts all the Asians that rejected from HPSM so Duke is in good company then |
Brown had a huge surge 2 years ago. Maybe these things go in clumps, and now Duke is getting a surge. I'd be surprised if Brown was up by that much again. |
Cornell and Brown have les than 20% Asians, Duke has 35%…. ![]() |
Yeah, no. And that same person came here to DCUM to post the same thing??? All will be revealed when Duke publishes their numbers. Until then, this is all fiction. |
Duke was a safety school for the ivies back in my day (90s). Took my kid to visit and they were meh. They really liked both MIT and Princeton though. Surprised me because although Princeton is strong in STEM, the schools have very different campuses and settings. |
