Wrong. ED was always there for rich white kids. It's not like Duke has a large percentage of URMs anyways.

Duke is a T10 school that top students want as their first choice. Not complicated.

According to Duke for class of 2027 they were 53% white, 35% Asian, 13% black, 13% hispanic, with 7% multiracial (which is why it adds up to over 100%).

35% Asian? Wow. Makes sense, in our Indian circles Duke is very popular.

Same with our Chinese friends. More desirable than many ivies

Why is that?

There must be a Duke intern spamming this board. No one refers to Duke as T10. Many Asians prefer Cornell or Brown to Duke. Both have a better CS programs. Cornell also has better engineering and business programs. Duke is not particularly strong in any subjects. It is in the same league of Vandy and Emory.

The entire OP has to be from Duke intern. We’re really supposed to believe that “our counselor” received an email from Duke admissions who shared application numbers, and then that counselor called up OP.

Sounds like some kids are home from college and bored.

What’re you on about? It’s pretty obvious that the counselor told the kid who then told OP. And apparently it’s been confirmed on Reddit

Yeah, no. And that same person came here to DCUM to post the same thing???

All will be revealed when Duke publishes their numbers. Until then, this is all fiction.

No multiple people on Reddit have confirmed Duke’s huge surge. It would be pretty wild at that point if it turned out to be false

Pro tip.. don’t choose a school based on campus. It’s subjective. But if you must, High Point University beats Chapel Hill.

This is bitter sweet thread. I love that Duke is so popular. But now it’s even harder for my kid to get in. It’s secretly been my dream school for them.

They have their heart set on a very unlikely Yale REA, and is applying RD to Duke (as well as UPenn and some other reach and target schools).. I guess either a lot more of the ED will get accepted this year or more get deferred to RD. Either way, its looking pretty grim for us applying RD.

+1 it’s also one of my kid’s top choices and they’ll have to enter the RD bloodbath

Most URMs don't do ED.

Interesting! In my circle, it’s almost universally Asians and others of color who attend Ivies. The white kids go to Duke.

A PP said Duke is 35% Asian so there are definitely Asians attending in droves

Ivies have similar percentages of Asian students

On a separate note. I’m excited to see these numbers after the Supreme Court decision. My prediction: the conspiracy was false, and it’s not going to change much

Over the next five years tack on minimum 5% more on the Asian numbers

Probably because it might be the only T10 that wasn’t taken over this fall by crazy leftist ant-semites.

??
The numbers are for the past 4 years??
We don't have new numbers since the decision.

I bet Asian numbers will increase. Question is how much.

Confirmed on Reddit? It’s likely the same poster spreading the same rumor or someone else from this thread.

Regardless of how you feel about Reddit, multiple different people saying the same thing means it’s likely true. What other explanation would there be?
