BIDEN DROP OUT

Anonymous wrote:So here is a scenario for everyone (right, left, and center) to consider. Get used to it.

Step 1. Biden is not likely to drop out, and if he does, the intra-party fight that would result would be worse for Democrats than a Biden candidacy itself. Harris would feel entitled to the nomination and she would accuse anyone opposing her of racism; RFK Jr. would come back into the Democratic party, and make a good case that he is the best candidate; Michelle Obama would come in; plus a parade of Gavin Newsome's and so forth. Nobody could get a consensus, which would allow Trump to campaign against the "party of chaos, infighting, corruption, and lawlessness." Democrat party insiders know that this would be a disaster, and they know that it is very difficult to beat a sitting President in an election, so assume that Biden will be the nominee. (unless he dies before November, in which case the problems for Dems would be incrementally worse, because that would place President Harris as the incumbent who Dems would have to beg not to run).

Step 2. Trump is likely to be convicted on one of his 90+ indictments, most likely the Georgia election interference, and will be promptly cuffed and taken to jail. The outcome of these proceedings seems pre-determined, so it is hard to imagine any Court acquitting him.

Step 3. But Trump is smart and he will pick a likeable, normal running mate (Youngkin, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, for example) who will seem very sane, safe, and Presidential in comparison to Biden or Trump. (or Harris) he will have no difficulty getting them to agree, considering step 8 below.

Step 4. The Trump ticket will get all of the MAGA voters that Hillary called "deplorable," even though Trump himself will be sitting in jail on Election Day, plus the moderates and thoughtful voters in both parties will be more comfortable with someone like Youngkin, Scott, or Haley running the country than Biden, whose age, mental and physical fragility, and corruption grows scarier by the day to reasonable people. Plus, one of the biggest campaign issues for Republicans will be that the political left has gone too far by throwing political opponents in jail, and needs to be stopped. As unpopular as Trump may be, the image of one party throwing the opposing candidate in jail on sketchy charges brought by far left prosecutors will feel like we are becoming a third world country, and will make many Americans uncomfortable.

Step 5. Biden will have to debate Youngkin/Haley/Scott, who will stand in for Trump on the Campaign trail, since Trump will be sitting in jail by October of next year. Biden's inability to communicate in the debate will be embarrassing and scary for the Country, and God knows what additional mental and physical breakdowns Biden will have between now and next November that will make him unelectable.

Step 6. The Trump ticket will win in a landslide - at least 40% of the electorate would vote for Trump no matter what (Hillary's "deplorables"), plus at least 20% would prefer someone like Youngkin, etc. over a clearly incompetent Biden. In modern American politics, over 60% is a landslide.

Step 7. As soon as the Trump ticket VP is sworn in as Vice President, and then a moment later sworn in as President, in January 2025, he/she will pardon Trump, who will rail on the travesty of what the political left tried to do to him, the country will begin its healing and start its to return to normal.

Step 8. Trump will serve out the remainder of his second term, and then Youngkin/Scott/Haley will be positioned to run for two more terms.

like it or not, it's hard to see how this won't happen.

How will Trump “serve out the remainder of his second term” if the VP has already been sworn in as president?

The Dems might actually live to regret the day that they take Trump out of the picture, and forcing Biden to run against a candidate who gets all the Trump supporters, PLUS the benefit of being mentally and physically fit to lead the country.

Trump will never put someone remotely competent on the ticket with him. It would make him look bad.

Just curious, do you put Pence in that category? While I disagreed with him on just about everything he was moderately competent before he became VP. The ultimate move for Trump would be to find somebody else who has some degree of legitimacy, which they then squander as VP by doing nothing but kissing Trump's butt.

Obviously. And they are afraid. They are hoping to sew doubt, like they did with Hilary, so people stay home or vote for a 3rd party. It's what they always do.

I just am not seeing the crap they are claiming. Other than the man is aging (he is 81, people!), Joe is still capable of stringing sentences and coherent thoughts together.

And have we forgotten the giant albatross of ABORTION that the Rs have hung around their necks?

Dems have momentum going into 2024, no doubt. This being said, the odds of someone other than Trump or Biden winning the 2024 POTUS election are growing. The most likely scenario for that to happen is through Joe backing out of the race so that a candidate with a greater chance of beating Trump can step in to do just that. This would be a patriotic thing for Biden to do. This isn't necessarily due to poor performance on Biden's part since he took office. His low approval ratings and unchangeable age weakness simply make him a risky candidate for a party that would otherwise have no problem replacing him with a candidate that would be much more likely to beat Trump. It just is what it is.

I say again, tiniest of needles.

I would LOVE to see Whitmer, but I'm sure she'd be called shrill or some BS.

I also really like Pete, but you know...gay. *gasp*

There are some other very competent senators and congresspeople, but they also all have SOMETHING that will be held against them.

But the Rs don't have to even WORRY about this - they can run the biggest jacka$$ on planet earth and a huge percentage of people will vote for that person, just because

I believe that the filing deadlines for many state primaries has already passed. Or do you think that Biden will make an unexpected announcement at the DNC and throw the process into total disarray? If he did that, I guarantee Democrats would rally around the sitting VP, Kamala Harris, as the consensus candidate. Something to consider, as I believe most of the “Biden needs to drop out for the good of the country” folks hate Kamala Harris even more than they hate Joe Biden.

I feel like I'm a reasonable person, and I'm not scared by Biden's mental and physical fragility. He's surrounded by plenty of reasonable, smart, capable people. This includes Kamala Harris, who I have confidence would be able to step in and continue Biden's vision.

I also don't see where Biden has been found guilty or even charged with any "corruption" so I'm not scared by that, either.

Both my teens are riden with Biden. They find Trump revolting and are happy about Biden’s climate policies. They are fairly informed but by all means no activists. Yeah, they joke he’s an old geezer but understand the threat of MAGA . They and all their friends plan to vote Biden and volunteer to flip NC.
