I think they are going to make a switch closer to election day. I've believed this for a long time, because it went from "he won't run again" to inexplicably, him running again.
I think the idea is that Trump does worse when he's up against a relative unknown. So, we know both Biden and Trump, and that's good for Trump. The reason he beat Hillary is because we knew Hillary and she was strongly disliked. Biden is also strongly disliked, and this is all great for Trump. But, you replace Biden with someone that people have only vague familiarity with. And that's bad for Trump. People are more likely to go for the unknown. |
