Bethesda Premier Cup Tournament 2023

You don't understand the landscape of youth soccer at all. You should be asking questions not making incorrect statements on here. BSC has some of the best boys and girls teams in the country and different age groups.

MLS Next teams have no place in a tournament like this, and they have most of their teams below that. What else do you want?

That's only true because it's not a top tournament. Circular logic. MLS Next teams play in non-MLS Next run tournaments all the time. Just not second tier ones "like this."

Wait, or is it the opposite? haha

Bad fields are the great equalizer. Hurts skilled teams ar more than lesser teams.
That's why lower league teams in the FA Cup tend to let their fields go to crap when playing top teams.

Yep. My prediction for the U14 boys age group this weekend is that Loudon and Laurel will do well, because of this (physical, running teams). Alexandria will be at a disadvantage (small, skilled team). This is based on seeing these teams over a couple years so this year's versions may be different.

The internet is an interesting thing. What makes a U14 team a "physical, running" team?
Do other teams take a seat or walk slowly?

The answer to this likely fake but definitely dumb question is literally in this thread.

When a U14 team has several average size and smaller players, including multiple small players playing up in age, but are described as "physical", it is quite a legitimate question to ask what makes such a team physical in soccer context.

So again the question is WHY does Bethesda bill this as the top 5 tournament in the country and then doesn’t even put their top teams in it? The optics are not good. Are they too good for their own tournament? Does not look good for them at all.

It is confirmed if you continue to cry about these fields you are a grade A KITTY KAT

I'll say it. My kid was playing on a field adjacent to the top Bethesda girls team (maybe 2012s?) Those girls were GOOD. Short wide field. Yelly coach. Phenomenal talent.

He's trying to say the boys are bigger, stronger and likely "punt more" versus smaller kids who are "more technical" and may play more possession based or fast short passes. At this age and level, it's all generalization and cheap reasoning.

Quick question: Does the tournament permit individual players the opportunity to get on a list in the event a team needs a player, like they can for the Jefferson Cup? Thanks in advance.

Yes. But GotSport guest pool sucks and no coaches check it. Email the age group coordinator and they can spread it to the teams if you want.

the skilled team will make the running team keep running and tire them out. I've seen it. And no one should care about winning at u14.

I've seen teams described as "big and strong and physical" on these forums.
Then you see them in real life.

One or two kids above average height, like most other teams with kids entering puberty.

Everyone cares about winning at U14. Or they're lying.

The good coaches/teams however are focused on the skillsets details that may translate to W's, not medals and trophies.

The boys side is pretty good because of their size. The girls side is pretty small and has not done anything in recent history.
