We have lawyers, economists, computer programers, and PhD scientists on our street. Yeah, ok, our homes aren't worth $2M, but it's not like it is a crappy neighborhood. It is being turned into trash and being made poor by sh!try new investment people turning good homes into garbage rentals.

If this is a preview of what Thrive MoCo is going to do to SFH neighborhoods, we are getting the hell outta the county quick.

Don’t let the door hit you…..

Let me guess. You’ve never had to work hard for anything in your life. Mommy and daddy paid for your college education so you never got bogged down with student loan debt. Family money helped you pay for a down payment on your home. You’ve never had to scrimp and save pennies for 12+ years to save for a down payment to afford what you thought was an OK home in a middle neighborhood. Right out of the gate you were affording a $1M+ house where you can live a privileged life insulated by scum vampire squid real estate speculators.

Let’s see how much you’d like it if a real estate investor bought a house on your block and stuffed 4, 5, or 6 families in their who never give a crap about the neighborhood. They also give zero craps about upkeeping the yard and neither does the landlord. Let’s see how much you’d like it to have your biggest investment ruined by some faceless, speculating scum real estate investor who has zero qualms about running a dilapidated, run down cesspool to stuff families in because the less money they spend on maintenance and repair the more profit it means. Just turn all our neighborhoods into 3rd world trash heaps.

Just call the county. At a minimum, if it’s a rental unit, they need to have a license.

OP I hope you don't let the keyboard bullies deter you from doing something about this. Check out the link that was provided to see if they have a rental license, start there. Your neighbors will thank you publicly even though they're probably the same people shaming you anonymously.

The row house on my street did a similar thing, a single family home turned into 4 rental units.

Then a fire happened and two people died.

If this single family house is now an multi family rental building call the relevant city agency to do an inspection.

If this is a single family home then they should also have a rental license which normally involves a fire safety inspection.

That's your answer to her point?

You don't think she has a right to be angry watching her hard-won investments go up in flames?

Let's see how you'd feel if it was your hard work and your investment going up in flames. She's not the one breaking zoning laws and rental laws. You are.

Multiple families is not the same as unrelated people. We have multiple families living next door to us and they’re all related.

+1. There is a house down the street that has six cars in the driveway and all the occupants are related. I think this is the future in cities with high COL.

Had this happen on my street. It is not legal but the county occupancy enforcement told me that it is extremely difficult to prove occupancy. Ridiculous, IMO. Freakin' park a car out there and count!

It was a 3-bedroom house that was occupied by THREE different families. I get it - times are tough - but jfc. The house had 5 cars plus a small commercial work truck and they usually parked it in the front yard. So lovely.

And just like OP stated, they trashed the outside. I mean, literally trashed it. They would haul in all kinds of rubbish and junk found on the side of the road and pile it outside next to the house. They didn't pay for trash removal and instead took it to the dump themselves, except they hardly ever did that. Instead we got 6 large trash bins of hot rotting garbage to smell during the warm months. We had SO many skunks in our neighborhood from their garbage. I have photos of a toilet they hauled home and sat out beside of their garage that sat for 5 months. Why??? WHY?!
