No, much of SS is imported poverty that has transformed the area into Central America. It has brought with it all of the gangs, drug rings, and human smuggling operations. Just go drive around the area, it doesn’t even look like you’re in America anymore. Random guys selling figurines all over the road, coconut vendors selling coconuts and littering all of the debris everywhere, families begging in shopping centers, houses with 8 families piling in and cars everywhere parked outside….just a huge decline in MoCo and SS. They voted for all of this unfettered, undocumented migration and now crime is going up while quality of life is going down. |
I live in Silver Spring and this is all true. Frustrating because our neighborhood used to be an affordable middle lass neighborhood. Now, it’s a bit of a mess. |
Lol. You don’t get to change an entire language because you don’t like gender. Latinx LatinX lAtInX is made up by a bunch of white liberal academics with a language colonialism. Nothing more. |
I posted this earlier, yes. They were found together. They’re fine. |
Silver Spring is huge. Yes there are parts with high poverty but if you think it’s a 3rd world country you’ve clearly never been to one. |
| Anyone know the price of one of those coconuts from the back of the truck? Going to fill up a thermos with ice and get me some fresh coconut from the truck this weekend. |
There is an obsessed poster who thinks if they continue to repeat that Montgomery County and MCPS are total hellscapes that will make it true and she will convince others of that fact. They are the typical Internet poster who is frequently wrong but never in doubt. The “language colonialism” was a good dinger though — I chuckled. |
What part of SS? I live in SS near Kensington and it's not at all like this. |
We don't use LatinX. |
What race are you, love bug? |
I’m Latina/Hispanic. |
That’s complete and utter bullshit. It’s like you went and saw that dumb Sound of Freedom movie and confused it with being a documentary. You know, the movie that people who actually work in human trafficking say is complete and utter bullshit? What is it with right wingers and the need to be in constant fear over phantom menaces? |
Sure you are |
I truly don’t care if you believe me. |
I keep seeing this perspective and I don't quite get since. Since a movie was made with some kind of right wing backing (I don't know the actual politics) now human trafficking doesn't exist? The swing from people caring about human trafficking to now denying it exists because of a movie is bizarre. These kids were run aways as are most teens who go missing. The movie had nothing to do with this scenario at all. |
