One hit wonder songs that are infinitely more iconic than any of Taylor Swift’s massive catalog.

Each of them has a couple of songs that are "iconic" enough to be played on the radio now and then and the rest of the songs are forgettable. TS will have a couple that stick around for the long haul. The people saying all of her songs will be classics are delusional.

I know some Perry and TS songs. I don’t know one of Rihanna. Don’t understand the hype about Rihanna.

Rihanna is such a boring performer but I do love 'Umbrella' and 'We Found Love'.

Rihanna is a billionaire so that's cool.

“Kids in America” by Kim Wilde. If Taylor Swift came out with this song right now, it would be her biggest hit.

That would be her encore. Her demographic would go wild.

Seems like there are only so many musical notes and combinations in pop music. Maybe most of the great possibilities have been written. I do believe in the 60s, 70s and 80s the artists were a product of much stricter and exacting education. So many more were exposed / trained in classical music and were more sophisticated by their 20s which are the most productive years for musical and science geniuses.

lol. We're probably similar age and so this song appeals to my inner adolescent. But no. This song lacks complexity and doesn't touch what Taylor is creating right now.

Here's the top ten from some week in 1984 - all absolute bangers.

How many of this week's top ten will be around in 40 years?

I'm a white middle-aged suburbanite and even I know "Pon de Replay," "Umbrella," and "We Found Love." Do you not have kids? Never listen to music with them? What?

PP has been out of touch for the last few decades. Too busy screaming at clouds.

It also talks about suburban sprawl. That is Taylor’s bread and butter core audience. She wouldn’t dare shade suburbia.

That song is about a 30 something man trying to bang a 16 year old. It’s gross.

Personally, I can’t get Back to December out of my head right now, so yes she does make earworms

No kids and older than you. Not in the demographics for any of those artists. But I on know TS and KP songs, even have an album or two of each. And still don’t know any songs from Rihanna.

Or if I do, I don’t know her to be the artist. I think her Super Bowl appearance she played one song I recognized from a commercial.
