Ahhh. Good info. But she wrote her best song “heaven..” |
|
Not a one hit wonder but as a writer I don’t think Gwen Stefani tops all Taylor’s songs with “4 in the morning” and “Early Winter” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_OLUSELxFok https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0S7Qu5HMiCA |
| She seems earnest and hardworking, but man, she's terrible. None of her songs stick. Not even a one hit wonder. |
I know what the old-timers (like myself) will say, but for those under 40, which is the better “Cruel Summer”? Bananarama: Taylor Swift: |
Even Taylor would admit the first song is in another class with much more staying power. Probably would be modernized but the basic songwriting is the type that will be played for decades. |
|
The original “cruel summer” was used for the seasons end Cobra Kai.

| Not the age you asked for, PP. I’m 42 and would choose Bananarama. |
|
Amy Lees version of the classic cruel summer during Covid shows what a stunner it is. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=paQsE53YkVU |

Always surprised how much she ripped off Mariah Carey's Shake it off (especially the chorus) and did not get called out for it.... go ahead and have a listen. I like Mariah's version better.
Countless other songs she takes lyrical and musical "inspiration" from, but don't have time to get into it. Also, Moody Blue's Wildest Dreams is one of he best songs using that title. |
Taylor needs to study that song. She crams too many words in and too much frantic fluctuation in her songs. To me her songs kind of induce anxiety instead of the kind of nostalgic smoothness that holds up forever. |
|
Not one of the songs listed were one hit wonders.

So? Tell me what you want what you really really want.
My world’s on fire how bout yours That’s the way I like it and I’ll never get bored! |
Or Wilco's Shake it Off. |
She was big when in the GoGos, thrn shr lost weight. |
Other than the words “Shake it off,” Mariah’s song sounds different. But Marvin Gaye’s estate sued because a song had a similar vibe — and won — so it doesn’t take much to claim copyright infringement. |
