Take off a week in school year to go to disney

Wouldn’t do it in middle or high school and wouldn’t do it during state testing periods or school events like science fair. I’d go either first week of December after thanksgiving crowds have subsided but before Christmas crowds ramp up or end of January (not MLK weekend and not into early February when a lot of schools get a break). But if you’re really set on swimming outdoors early-mid May would also be a good time to go.

Cool. Would love to make sure my tax dollars stop paying your salary because you’ve just said your job is useless.

Also lol. I hope all your kids fail their state test so you can start collecting unemployment like every other useless drag in society.

Everyone: Whelp, if we want to go to Disney we will have to do it during a hot period or a busy period.
You: Let’s come up with a short cut!
Everyone: no it’s bad for your kids to miss school. That’s why no one does it.
You: It doesn’t matter.

Also you: I wonder why my kid got arrested for tax evasion. We never taught them that it’s ok to think the rules don’t apply to them.

OP, you’re a crap parent. Grow up.

That’s a totally apt analogy /s

You’re damn right it is. Some people play by the rules. Others are spoiled pricks who don’t. They produce more spoiled pricks who don’t believe the rules apply to them.

Easy solution: don’t teach your kids that the rules don’t apply to them. Our daughter wouldn’t want to miss school for Disney. Because she has a proper respect for authority.

Send your kids to school. It’s the god damn law.

Yes but it’s not against the law to take them out of school for a few days to go on a trip. Even most teachers and admin agree about that. You sound insane comparing this to tax evasion.

Bc I am not an unhinged lunatic who thinks it’s a crime for a kid to miss a few days of elementary school? Ok…

It’s not unhinged. Kids get half the year off. Most adults are morons. Maybe they could have used another few days in school.

😂 my statement that it’s ok to miss a few days of elementary school is really not at all saying my job is useless. But I can see that you’re not a very mentally stable individual so I think I’ll stop engaging with you! Have a great day

My DD’s kindergarten teacher encouraged us all to do this at back to school night. As in “do it now becuase you can’t later.” We did four days in Disney over one of FCPS’s many random end of quarter breaks. She missed half a day of school. Half our plane was doing the same thing

I’m a teacher. No, I don’t want my students going on trips all the time but if it happens every once in awhile, no big deal. I wouldn’t advocate for it but I also just don’t see it as anything to worry about. It doesn’t stop me from doing my job and it really doesn’t affect the student that much either in most cases. Just like it doesn’t affect most people’s jobs that much when they take time off work for a vacation. A few missed days of elementary school is pretty inconsequential.

Kids really don’t need to be in school as much as they are. Adults don’t need to work as much as they do either. It’s ok. The world will keep turning.

I wouldn't do it during middle or high school, but elementary is fine.

The teacher above said it’s ok for an elementary student to miss 2-3 days of school. That does not equate to their job not being essential. You are not a very logical person if that is how you think.

That’s probably what will happen! My kid once missed a few days of elementary school and they failed their end of year tests, had to repeat the grade, and never graduated high school or found a job. Worthless! That’s the most likely outcome, OP, if you take your kids out of school…beware they’ll probably be living in your basement unemployed and a total idiot as an adult!

Cool! This is not the thread for you. Bye!

Why so dismissive? Jeez.

Doesn’t add to the conversation. It’s like asking, “has anyone flown Delta before” and someone piping in, “no, we always travel by Amtra, tut-tut for flying”. Who gives AF, either answer the question or don’t bother chiming in.

Sounds like you’re uncomfortable with anyone disagreeing with you.

No, just tired of people thinking their 2c matters when they can’t stay on topic.

The topic is taking your kids out of school for Disney. How was I off topic?

The topic is asking for experiences with taking the kids out during the school year. No one cares that you’re the mommiest mom to ever mom and follow the school calendar to a tee.

I posted factually. Go after the people calling you all hypocrites and bad parents, rather than me.

Aww, are you upset that you are worthless in this conversation? Shouldn’t you be working right now and not wasting your employer’s time on this site? Since you’re such a rule follower and all.
