I was raised in a small town in the midwest. I was there last week when the controversy "hit". Most people in my small town are embarrassed. If people are obsessed, they aren't saying it in the circles I associate with.

I can’t stand him personally — as he reeks of phony country grifter — but I admit some of his songs are good. But this song isn’t good. Way over the top MAGA anti-woke crap that sounds like A.I. wrote it.

And without looking it up, I’d bet anything he and his trash ball home wrecking wife live in gaudy mansion in a ritzy town. These country rock stars are true elitists who don’t give a sh*t about their unwashed fan bases.

Actually not true. The lynching affiliated with the Maury County Courthouse is well-known by people who have actually learned about the Jim Crow south. And this is why it's so important to teach accurate American history.
