Beside the grope-a-thon in that photo, the other big thing that stuck out is - no one with any manners and common sense wears a hat at the table - that would have got you some serious side-eye and a talking to by parents. ~ former small town farm kid.

It’s farm/cowboy/rural cosplay.

DP. Because he is not from a small town. He’s from Macon, GA!

Thanks for the link. I laughed hard. I'm a New Yorker with small town roots and he is on point.

You mean the mistress insurrection Barbie who’s had plastic surgery to look like Carrie Underwood?

He didn’t write it but his longtime guitarist did. And he picked it.

I think his song is about how different life is in a small town in the context of a city. They live a different lifestyle and from lyrics, they support their LEOs, etc. I think he is right. He insinuates for example that theirs is a very gun loving culture v city folks who tend toward liberal (myself) who despise gun culture. I think he's right. So a lot of the lyrics I think is on pointe re: small esp rural communities in the US.

Is he racist for saying that? Maybe but it is the truth.

My other prob with those who want to be outraged on this is that you should really examine the lyrics to 2LiveCrew, NWA, Eminem, et al. rap group. I mean you cannot say those lyrics are not maybe even worse or on the same level!!!

I think the cancel culture is real and is very scary. From banning gas stoves to this, I think people just take to the extremes of what has been publicized and can't let it go. We're just all too nuts.

The location the video has been filmed is used as a prime location to many many other videos - that's why they used it. Now, maybe because he happens to be politically right wing, he is sending a message, who knows. But he is not the only artist who picked this spot to film so you have to be fair about this place being used - should we analyze all those times this location has been on film?

So I'm not a right wing supporter that he definitely is. He's MAGA loving, proTrump and he's everything I don't stand for but you know he can be a conservative and still make music. You may not like it but I think people outraged about this song should call out a zillion other things in this day and age that are if not the same and worse to be outraged about. The other side is that he knows full well this is a controversial song and it will make him more $ - that's just business savvy and people play into that so - again not his fault.

I don't like the guy but beating up on this song is a waste of time, energy and really anti free speech.

My problem is more with the a**holes who want to be outraged about what they pretend to believe about people who live in cities. That's the market for his garbage lyrics. Like we live in these urban hellscapes. Meanwhile, to pretend that small town living is better, they have to ignore the fact that the people with any ability are getting the hell out and going to the cities. They ignore the abandoned houses, the companies that could no longer function in their areas, the rampant drug use, the hostility to education, and the embrace of the most repressive kinds of religious beliefs. Instead of recognizing that their culture is played out, they lash out against others.

I am from a small southern town and the men are all too zooted & zonked out of their minds to organize and do anything.

Now, offer some free weed or pills and hell yeah, they'd all be there.

This is just reciprocal hate towards small towns

No, it's the realities of the cons of both rural and urban environments. Just facts.

You realize that apologizing never works, right? They don't want "I'm sorry." They want your blood. Screw them.

The guys seems like a talentless Dbag. Not only completely self unaware (Macon is not a "small town." I grew up in a small town) but a classless bigot.

It took him creating controversy, over a song he didn't write, using a video location of a 1927 lynching, for him to make it to the top of the charts? Show how talentless he is. Also shows what kind of people his followers are. And frankly, I'm enjoying the discussion among my "friends" to a certain extent b/c they're tell me something about them that I maybe didn't know. And none of it is good. So now I know.

Macon is definitely a small town.

source: I lived near there for five years as an Air Force brat.

It's not anti free speech to criticize what someone else has said. That's part of the deal. Jason Aldean gets to say what he wants, other people get to criticize that. (Unlike what happened to 2 Live Crew which actually was a threat to free speech)
