Woman missing after reporting seeing a toddler on the highway

Stop spreading disinformation. She called 911, and her car was found running. Her wig was on the side of the highway. She’s a nursing student, so her good deed makes sense.

This all makes it seem like she quickly got out to check on what she thought she saw….and was then snatched (but she up a fight before being taken).

The odds are overwhelming that a man or even an police officer would have been the one to stop help the kid. What would the bad person do then? Ah, "nothing going on here officer. Just lost my toddler in the woods adjacent to a freeway"

I've read elsewhere that maybe she just unfortunately stumbled upon a trafficked child or some other criminal activity and thus had to be "removed" because she was a witness.

This is such a freaky case.

I was buying the trap theory, but you’re right, PP. It doesn’t seem logical.

I guess she ran into something bad and was attacked as a result. I still think she saw a child, so was a child being abused or something?

I agree this makes more sense.

Eh but no other motorists reported a child. No traffic cams picked up movement other than cars and, allegedly, her car on the shoulder. (and not the perpetrators car either).

So no perpetrator's car? Are there houses nearby? A deep culvert or drainage area for someone creepy to hide/live in?

You can see her get out of the car and go around to the drivers side. Some people on websleuths say they can see multiple people in the video but I only see her. It does appear she does walk off away from her car.

I don't see her walk away, but from about 1:00 on look at the right side of her car and watch when her hazard lights illuminate the area. There does appear to be more than one person and then at 1:19 if you look to the right of the mile marker you can clearly see a light that to me appears to be a car door opening. I can make out what appears to be the outline of a car. I find it distressing to look at the moment she was abducted. Horrible.

I would be interested to know if this is slowed down footage. I was also not expecting a busy highway, but if these cars are actually going by at 55+ it makes sense that the other drivers would not have seen what was going on.

^^Actually, the footage at 1:20 may be the poles of the large interstate sign being illuminated instead of a car door opening. But illuminated by what? Her car didn't light them up.

What is strange is that there was a ton of traffic passing by--much of it in the right hand lane. No one saw an abduction?

And where was the second (grey) car? There is no car coming or going---not even a car with it's lights off.

Where do you see this? Way to the right? I see the light you mention at 1:19.

Could maybe have been an animal attack?
Maybe she thought she saw a kid and it wasn't. It was a bear or something.

I don't know. It's all very strange and sad
I hope she's found and the child is too if there was one.

Are we sure about this grey car thing? I’d be tempted to believe that something nefarious was happening between people with no car on the side of the road

Damn, that’s a reasonable guess!

My heart is breaking fir her and her family, when she was the Good Samaritan.

Twitter says it’s organized human trafficking. That this is a tactic. This poor child, too. And other kids, who people will be unlikely to help.

This may be the case, but it makes no sense to me? There are so many more vulnerable populations (runaways, addicts, etc.) that are easier to kidnap without anyone immediately noticing they’re gone vs. taking an adult woman with a family she is obviously close to. Also, you have no idea who is going to pull over — could have been a large man. I could see my DH stopping for a kid on the side of the road since he’s a dad of young kids and this would worry him. This just seems like an absolute crapshoot from a trafficking perspective.

Or maybe I’m just really hopeful that if this doesn’t have a happy ending, that whatever happened to her was quick and not terrible. I saw the press conference with her family and her mom’s voice was trembling. Apparently Carlee had picked up food for them both. You can tell she wants her baby back so badly.

How far is a bear going to drag a person? And then there'd be plenty of her blood to track.

Carlee’s mom….

Yeah animals don't erase evidence.

A bear attack, or any other gruesome attack, would leave evidence of a struggle - blood (either victim or culprit), a shoe that may have fallen off while flailing, new scratches on the car upholstery, drag marks in the dirt etc.

I guess police aren't revealing wgat evidence they have

After watching again, the light at 1:19 is the pole of the Interstate exit sign being illuminated - BUT something that is not her car or the other cars passing is illuminating it. Watch the right side of the video from about 1:00 through to 1:30 - there's a vehicle (I believe it's a vehicle) off of the shoulder on the right. It's to the right of and behind the sign that has the gas stations/restaurants listed. It moves past her car - you can clearly see one headlight beam at 1:26-27.

Animal attacks don't always leave lots of blood.

And an attack by a human is going to leave more than a wig.

I think the police are withholding some information
