Amsterdam- turned off by the people and sex industry there.

Nice- very disappointing and unattractive compared to surrounding beaches and countryside in the South of France.

I thought Nice had a gorgeous beach! The color of the water was amazing.

Ok the beach was a total disappointment nut thats what Bali is “famous” for.
However the rice fields, mountains, sceneries were very beautiful!

Maldives - gorgeous water beach….but cant go in water at the beach, too dangerous - another teaser.

Might as well stick to Caribbean.

Why couldn’t you go in the water in the Maldives?

I lived in several parts of Spain, & Madrid is like a synthesis of the worst aspects of all the other parts of spain: crime, sprawl, crappy new architecture, rudeness, American fast food, etc. Lots of great places to visit in Spain. I found that the capital city isn’t one of them.

Hmm. I’ve been all over Spain and Madrid is one of my favorite Spanish cities.

I agree with Venice. Don't get me wrong, I would 100% go back but the touristy areas were packed. The food sucked. I managed to find 1 good eatery run by a Asian family.

I think all of Europe is overrated during high season. It’s awful for those of us with children under 18.

What’s interesting is how in most states and countries, the capital IS NOT the best or most interesting or beautiful city, by far

Is that Europe’s fault or do you just want to do adult things on these trips and so your kids complain they are bored? That will happen anywhere if you don’t figure out how to plan trips that cater somewhat to kids’ needs.

Anyone who goes to Bali for the beaches will be disappointed. But how can you go to Ubud and the Ayung River Valley and not love the culture and natural beauty? The palaces, gamelan, dances, food, local Buddhist/animist customs. You won’t experience the true beauty of Bali if you stay at a beach resort.
