Let's be clear- the federal indictment and prosecution has been ongoing with various procedural issues and appeals. Federal trials usually take a long time. This one has been taking a very long time, but it's not over, it's ongoing.

And Al Franken never actually touched Leeann Tweeden who was in on the joke. He still faced a chorus of calls to resign. The GOP has no such honor, as nicely evidenced by Trump and Paxton.
