What’s going on with TX AG Paxton? Just got impeached

Right, this is where they had to go on the record and make the state complicit in his corruption

Is he being arrested this week by the Feds? There’s either a dead girl or a naked underage boy.

I think it’s because there’s an US Attorney in the western district of Texas who’s actually investigating all this stuff while none of the Trump-nominated ones were, so there will be additional federal charges and movement on the indictment he’s been under for years.

I don’t think that’s it. This guy has been a slime ball for years. He’s almost as dirty as Rick Scott.

I see. It’s all well and good so long as they’re not personally affected, but they were personally affected.

I still think there’s more to come.

No this is pretty standard in the GOP and Texas.

But he has been, for years. Why now are they discovering their ethics?

Paxton went after the Speaker of the House. Said he was drunk while presiding over the House and should resign. That’s what triggered the impeachment.

Ah, that makes since. Paxton forgot who he owed.

Again, that ain't it. I won't bother posting links no one is going to read (again), but the Texas Tribune and Texas Monthly are the best sources for what is really going on. Current belief is that authorizing the $3.3 million to settle the whistleblower cases might have implicated the committee members/TX Legislature in a cover up that is being federally investigated. Speculation is that there is also more evidence of criming to come.

And the evidence is "ten times worse" than what has been revealed to the public, attorneys who will be arguing the case told The Daily Beast.

"Famed criminal defense attorney Dick DeGuerin — who has represented clients ranging from former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to convicted murderer and New York City real estate heir Robert Durst to cult leader David Koresh—is now determined to 'save and protect the people of Texas from a crooked attorney general,'" wrote Justin Rohrlich. "'It’s a matter of corruption, a matter of abuse of the public trust, a matter of misuse of public resources, flat-out bribery, perjury,' said DeGuerin, a one-time prosecutor who will help make the case on the House floor for Paxton’s conviction. 'It’s just conduct that convinces anyone that looks at it fairly that the office of attorney general has been abused and used for personal gain.'"

The only takeaway here is that Texas has an extremely high bar for tolerating GOP misbehavior.

He’s in the way of the ‘turn TX blue’ goal. They got AZ, TX is next. This is the new Dem ‘thing’. Use the leftist courts and threats to get rid of those that block the agenda.

I don’t know who DeGuerin is (sorry PP who wants us to read the Texas pubs; sometimes I just want a pat answer and not to have to read a long slog about a corrupt state that I can’t do anything to change, you know?) but I enjoy your certainty.
