Senate trial when one of the Senators is his wife.

Yes, but she needs to tread carefully. One of the allegations against him is that he took bribes of a major home renovation from Nate Paul in return for illegal favors from the AG's office. If these allegations are found to be true, then she is also implicated in the felony bribery charges as she is also joint homeowner of the home that was renovated.

One of the counts also relates to employment he got for his mistress. I wonder if she has to recuse on that?

What mistress? Did you just make that up?

No one is making that up. See Article IX.

Paxton has been pushing back a little too hard on illegal immigration, unlike Abbott who was doing more things for show.

GOP rank and file showing they never read anything and don't believe the truths about their elected candidates.

He also just vowed beginning of the month to investigate the Covid vaccine manufacturers.

Nah, this is 100% refusing to be complicit in his many, many cover ups

The impeachment has nothing to do with illegal immigration.

They want to give him so street cred so he can run for President.

So just in the past couple days, Republicans impeached Paxton even though Trump told them not to and Republicans made a debt ceiling deal avoiding default even though Trump told them not to. Interesting.

Republican elites can’t control their brainwashed primary voters, tho.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of amoral bastards.

Paxton wanted the state to make $3.3 million payout to settle a whistleblower lawsuit against him. The TX House could handle all the bribery (like having Nate Paul hire Paxton’s mistress to make sure she was close to him) but $3 million is $3 million.
