Are there any colleges or universities that you refuse to hire from?

It’s also apparently totally okay to discriminate against single moms and military personnel who go to online schools while working full time jobs and raising a family, because the school they went to runs commercials on daytime television. I wonder if the same people on these threads making obnoxious statements about online programs are on other threads screaming that there is no loss of productivity in telework.

Lol @ conflating Liberty University with Christians.

I hope this is a joke. Rutgers is a great university. And New Jersey is one of the most well-educated states with excellent public k-12 schools in the country. Hiring someone who went to Rutgers doesn’t mean you need to visit the state.

No. I hate everything about New Jersey. I’m not hiring anyone from there or who went to school there,

Surprising how prevalent this attitude is. On more than one occasion, I have read threads on other websites posted by New Jersey students asking why people from New Jersey are disliked so much. The stereotype is of a loud, mouthed obnoxious person--either sex--who is superficial with exposed chest hair--either sex again--and wearing at least one gold chain necklace--males only.

Knee jerk I would have said Liberty, but then why not BYU, Pepperdine, or Baylor?

So I think I would give all resumes a look, but Liberty's affiliation with Jerry Falwell and Trump is definitely going to make me biased.

Why would you hold that against someone who had to get an on line degree while working and supporting themselves? These people are usually working 10 times harder than some of the partying undergrads you'll get from a residential college.

Ivies. Don’t want to hear from their parents.

But a bigger detraction is that I probably wouldn’t hire someone who put their pronouns on their resume. And I’m not talked about gender neutral pronouns like they/them, I’m also talking about even if a women put she/her/hers or a man put he/him/his. I’m liberal, but I would assume that employee may be potentially difficult.

Imagine the difficulty in hiring someone who wants their correct pronouns used and also wants to use the correct pronouns of others.

Lots of great people with degrees from University of Phoenix, BYU, Hillsdale, even Oberlin. But never, never, never, never, anyone from Colorado College.

Why?? One of the smartest, nicest, and hardest working women I know went there in the ‘80s.

Yes, I’m from DMV but considering Rutgers for my kid who will never get into a local flagship.

I had a bad experience with someone from Harvard who was in her late 20s and very entitled. I'd hire people from there again but I'd definitely try harder in interview process to assess whether they expected promotions and opportunities to be handed to them vs having to hustle.

Really disgusting to see so much trans hate on this forum. I’m making a mental not to add my pronouns to my resume. Maybe I’ll also start dinging applicants who omit them.

Religious scam unis, like Liberty.

Lots of students attend Liberty and other religious schools for cost and convenience. They avoid religious aspects and focus on rest of the education. It would be unfair to discriminate against them. If any, they add some intellectual diversity to these schools and develop good insight about what's going on there. They can become reformers, when given a chance.

Pronouns annoy me too, but I think there is a place for them if someone has an androgynous name. I appreciate knowing if Kelly, Cory, or even Drew is a he or she so that I can use the proper form of address (Ms.or Mr.) It is also helpful for names not derived from English language to know the pronouns of the person you are addressing.

I think PP means obvious names. I have seen an Elizabeth adding her expected pronouns and rolled my eyes

I really, really don’t get what’s to be annoyed at.

Judging by suicide rates, it seems clear that being trans or non-binary is hard. I think people with names like Elizabeth who put “she/her” on their resume are trying to make non-binary people’s live less difficult by making listing pronouns less of an outlier. I really don’t understand being annoyed with people doing something that doesn’t hurt you and maybe makes other people who are suffering have a slightly easier. Does donating to food banks also annoy you?

So basically you won't hire anyone under the age of 25 or 26? That seems like a lot of people to blackball.
