We both WFH on Fridays so someone will probably just yell decisions from across the house. We’ve agreed to not obsess over it in front of DD (she’s 4) so we’ll try to turn off the anxiety by 5 to go pick her up.

I feel bad for your kid that you’re both this stressed over this at 4.

Have you applied for a kid? If not, be quiet. It's stressful even for the most chill people.

DP. No, I haven’t applied. We just send our child to public school with the rest of the unclean heathens. I do hope you make it in somewhere. Because what would happen if you didn’t???

There’s something really sick about you coming into this thread just to crap on people.

I’m just keeping tabs on what the elite are saying about us low life’s.

Go troll somewhere else. No one is talking about you on here. They’re just waiting for admissions decisions.

Ty for the tip.
What do parents of older kids usually do? Do they open the letters with their child there?

I would.

Which Catholic are you considering?

NP who is also concerned about your level of stress on a 4 year old. And yes, I do care where my child goes to school. She attends public in the Whitman cluster so we’re doing fine, thanks!

..And yet, here you are..trolling on the private school forum.

DP. It’s what I do when I’ve caught up on real housewives. Same drama.

You watch Real Housewives? Get a life.

Lowlife has nothing to do with public school or income. Lowlife is a behavior. Which you exhibit.

I'll be at home. I will look at them with my son (he is in 8th). We will go to a haircut appointment he has afterwards.
We applied to 3 schools, but there is only one he is really excited about. We visited places endlessly, but it felt hard to find a fit. The one he likes is the least competitive in terms of admissions. I think he has a decent chance, but if it does not work out, we will attend public.

Going back to the topic. If you have a child applying for HS what language did you use to talk to your child about seeing the decisions?

What did you say if the child did get in? What did you say if there was disappointment?

We are in a decent public district so I'm more anxious about DD's feelings than my own. DH and I both went to private so I think she feels pressure.

Handwritten note from a top three school thanking us for interest. Is that a good or bad sign?

I spoke to them in French, which helped buffer the pain as she does not really understand it well.

From an admissions officer? Possibly. If it's one of those things students do it's a nice personalized touch in the process, but I don't think it means anything.

We didn't receive a handwritten note from the "top 3" (though we didn't apply to all of them - just a few). I'd take it as a good sign.

You only applied to a few of the Top 3?

OK.
