General over promising and under delivering. And no real path forward other than a bit of outreach and a shrug.

I’m sorry that was your experience and it sounds like they should have encouraged you to apply more widely at the very least. We are also a K-8 family and had a completely different experience. We found outplacement support to be very strong. Please don’t paint all K-8s with the same brush, many are very effective at outplacement.

I’m sorry that was your experience and it sounds like they should have encouraged you to apply more widely at the very least. We are also a K-8 family and had a completely different experience. We found outplacement support to be very strong. Please don’t paint all K-8s with the same brush, many are very effective at outplacement.


The supply/demand issue is very real. One must apply to 5 plus schools nowadays....

This depends. We applied to 2 and got into both, but we were not looking at any of the NW DC schools.

NW DC's population density ups the demand dramatically.

NW DC's population density ups the demand dramatically.


As a result the schools in that area are able to appear better because they can be more selective because of more applicants.
