People who are good at heart and hard working, they probably work 2 minimum wage jobs and are still unable to feed their kids or keep roof over their head, which is why they steal. Out of despair. They will be selling this coat on ebay to help cover rent or buy food for their starving children. They deserve only our sincerest sympathy, not punishment and not even any badmouthing. Save the badmouthing for the aholes wearing overpriced unnecessary flashy status symbol clothes who are stealing from the working poor probably to afford this.

I work very hard for my status symbols and I'll wear them proudly without your poor ass judgement, thank you. These monsters are thieves, no sympathy from me. They are violating people and providing unimaginable trauma when they victimize each and every robbery victim. You can take your sympathy and shove it, and I believe I express exactly how the majority of people in this city feel. I am not an ass.... for wearing something I worked very hard for, your are an ass for suggesting otherwise.

BUUUUULLLLLLLSSSSHHH|t.

Here's the thing you won't learn for a while: peoe who work very hard for everything they own don't buy $1,000 jackets. Working your butt off for everything changes your perspective.

Kids in this city have killed each other over sneakers for a long time. It’s not that the jacket costs $1000, it’s just that it’s trendy. People are walking around the city all day wearing more valuable things and not getting mugged.

Those of you freaking out about a $1000 jacket are almost as dumb as the kids stealing them. You have no idea whether this stupid coat is marked up more or less than other things nor whether the additional base cost has any utilitarian or moral benefit. It’s just that since doing the research to really try to be a value conscious consumer is time consuming, unfun and probably impossible to do thoroughly at the end of the day so you’ve substituted the sort of middle price for everything as being somehow the smart and/or moral choice but really we have no idea.

I mean heck, I probably rack up the difference between a north face coat and a goose coat in a year by buying not the cheapest seltzer even though I know it’s the same. BTW you can buy the north face coat from “wantdoo” on Amazon for less. Not that it matters.

Tbh mugging sounds like hard work.

You know they are not gonna shoot you. They don’t want to put a hole in the jacket. I suppose they can shoot you in the head. Hmmm

That doesn’t mean it’s logical.

Oh man if this was my jacket I’d be so tempted to go vigilante justice.

I own a $1700 Woolrich cost, for example. It's one of the best things I've ever bought. I know I won't get robbed because the model I own has no logos anywhere except the tag that you cannot see unless I take it off.

Stop buying crap like Canada Goose of Moncler that have obvious logos on them that make you a target. This is not a new concept. People have been shooting each other for dumb Nikes since the 80s.

True, even the cheapest MaxMara coat is more expensive than any of these. However, people should be able to wear whatever they choose without being hurt.

I vote for Land's End. Cheap and still filled with down.

Correction. Russians. Yes, one grape.

Why aren't the detectives doing stings on the re-sell site?

This. Easy to catch the muggers by buying from offerup.

I called this out on Reddit and they hated me for saying these coats are a complete status symbol around here and unnecessary.
