I’ve never bought a North Face or Canada Goose jacket because I figured I’d get robbed. And yep!
In Europe, people wear a lot of these brands and I guess don’t have to worry about muggings? https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/howard-university-student-becomes-most-recent-victim-of-violent-theft-for-canada-goose-jacket/3263953/?amp=1 |

That's silly - North Face is a fraction of the price of Canada Goose.
Also, your attitude brings to mind the old saying that even a broken clock is right twice a day. |
|
I'm from Paris and my family member was robbed at knifepoint for their wallet in the metro. My Grandma had her rings torn from her fingers.
Risk is everywhere, OP. |
| Those Canada Goose jackets are like a flashing neon sign for robbers. They are also wholly unnecessary in DC. |
| Gap ftw! |
|
Article says the jackets retail for $1000.
How much student loans does the victim have? 30 jackets? I would be furious if my kid owned and wore a $1,000 item of clothing. My family's HHI is about 160 stupid forking jackets. |
That's weird, because there are extraordinarily 'gifted' pickpockets in Paris and other European Capitals, and it's so much less risky for them to magically obtain those wallets. |

Right, status symbols can back fire. Flashy bags, coats, shoes. It can absolutely make you a target. These are dumb rich white kids enrolled at GW though.
The entire point of this $1k coat is to tell people you are rich. |
|
Is there a black market for them, or something? Weird.
I'm Canadian. A lot of Canadians don't even wear them. Ridiculous price and not necessary enough to warrant the price. Wear layers. |
Or you pretend to be. |
| Is Canada Goose going to go the way of Starter now? |
| Used to be north face jackets they would steal in the 2000s. |
| Canada goose isn't even expensive lol. |
My family's HHI is about 1200 jackets, and my college kids who are way up north don't own them. Their coats are plenty warm without adding extra $$ for the showy label. Even when you can "afford" it, it's just silly IMO. |
Your kid very likely carries around a $1,000 computer in the palm of his hand. Seems like an arbitrary thing to protest the jacket? |
