See, this chart proves beyond a doubt that Teslas are really the only viable option for EVs at the moment given the price per range cost. Lucid is also a trash car company that shouldn't even be in the list because they have severe quality and production issues and may eventually cease to exist. Tesla dominates the range for affordable prices compared to most anything else that comes close. The ranges listed are also what's claimed on paper and probably aren't even close to real world performance where ranges will be significantly reduced when hauling things and cold weather. Tesla would have even better range at the moment compared to competitors in actual real world use. Then consider how bad the current lack of infrastructure is for all the vehicles besides Tesla on that list. Hate Elon all you want. Teslas are the only viable EV on the market at the moment for real world use and when you have to drive longer distances. You'll be screwed for chargers in any other brand types once you start getting out of more developed parts of the country. Have fun driving 2 hours out of the way to find a broken charger for your Kia that takes 40 minutes to charge for 120 miles of range in the winter before you need to go out of your way for another giant detour to find another charger again. |

I have not found this to be true in two years of owning a non-Tesla EV, driving up and down the East Coast. It's true, I haven't started "getting out of more developed parts of the country," except southern Delaware (which has terrible EV infrastructure, but still workable enough), but since this is a forum for people who live in and near D.C., not sure how many people here have that concern. How often do you need to go the full max capacity of any EV (besides the one with the 100-mile range) in a single trip? |
From what I read-it charges at 4 miles per hour on a regular wall plug. I rent so I cannot install the level 2 charger. In my calculations, I'd need to do a full charge at least once a week. |

You literally have crap for brains. First, the knock against Tesla is because Elon is some kind of MAGA. Lmao, you realize Lucid is backed by money from Saudi Arabia where women's rights don't even exist? Lucids cost almost 3x more than Teslas, so on a $ per range comparison, it isn't even close - Teslas are way better. Thirdly, it is obvious you've had your head up your a$$ and know zero about the problems plaguing Lucid. Buyers reported Lucids stopping entirely on highways and becoming bricked. Other issues reported that the car would actually go forward when out into reverse. Management at Lucid also fired an engineer whistleblower within the company who claimed the company was covering up safety issues and problems from regulators. Not what you'd want for a $150k car. But yes, please do go on telling everyone why Teslas are bad because Elon MAGA, while proposing to buy Lucids that cost 3x more, have severe safety and quality issues with no infrastructure for supporting charging, and are run by Saudi money, lol. DP - yes, Lucid is crap, but your Saudi argument is also crap. The Saudis have made huge historical investments in Tesla, and were going to fund Elon's attempt to take Tesla private a few years ago (per recent court testimony). And Saudi and Qatari money is also part of the recent Twitter financing as well. |

Oh yes, so reliable. Look how much range all these cars lose in the winter:
Mach E loses like 15% of it's range in the winter after driving only 88 miles for a a battery with about 200+ miles of range. My parents live 110 miles away. That means if I had a Mach E, I'd lose about 10-20% of range going one way in the winter to see them and may barely make it there if you hit a snarl of traffic. I'd have to charge it 2-3x for hours on end in the winter if I wanted to go visit the rents, assuming I could even find a charger on the way they wasn't even broken and wouldn't require significant detours. I know for a fact though that there are multiple Tesla charging stations evrywhere along the same way that would make the trip not troublesome like it would be in a Mach E or some other brand. This isn't also considering the fact that most manufacturers say you shouldn't charge to 100% in order to prolong battery life. EVs other than Teslas are not viable because there is no viable charging infrastructure, they lose tons of range in the winter, and it is harder to plan longer distance trips in large protons of the country. |

If you have a long-a$$ commute and/or road trip often then Tesla is the best bet.
We have one with a 400+ mile range that will work for us for now. But we won’t get another Tesla in the future. Other auto companies are catching up and Musk is MAGA. |
