Do any other teachers here hate “Leader in Me”?

But I agree you are not qualified to teach it. Kids should go to these classes by qualified staff.

You don’t think teachers are capable of teaching.. leadership? Seek homeschool then. Yikes. No one needs to be “qualified” to teach this complete bs. Anyone with a functioning brain could easily teach it and also realize how stupid it is at the same time.

Yes just like I f’ing think an English teacher should teach math.

Teachers are not leaders.

Clearly OP can’t teach it. It’s a solid program and needed if taught properly.

Really? How many teachers do you know that are actual leaders?

First of all, you’re a moron. Period.

Second of all, even people as dumb as you could teach this. Done! Doesn’t require any specialization. It actually requires negative brain cells. You have to be a covey shill. I just feel sorry for you.

Sorry but teachers are not qualified to teach everything. I know it hurts your feeling. But leadership is needed in the real world and academia is not the real world. Teachers don’t have any experience in a business, they are rarely educated enough to teach most things.

I’m on your side, I don’t think YOU should teach this.

Covey is insipid, pop psych, business lite garbage. Sorry you drank the Kool-Aid. Keep it far away from our kids.

Even in the business world the people
Who love the seven habits are usually the dumb ones. Personally I hate the whole philosophy of leadership and teaching people how to be leaders. Lots of really smart people are introverts and thinkers. Not leaders. It is weird how we always seem to reward the loudest most annoying person in the Erin in America.

Lol! I hate the concept of leaders? Omg! Our children have no chance, thank god coaches teach this instead of teachers.

Teachers teach this insipid curriculum with ease. It’s insultingly easy to teach actually. Zero coaches necessary.

Not just that but it has helped so many kids and is so inspiring! Not sure what the OP has it in for it.

You think..
You think the 7 habits are required in the corporate world? Sorry…
Anyone who works in the real world knows bs when they see it.
You sound like you actually need some help.

Forbes disagrees with you.

There's a poster who has their panties in a bunch over this. They likely have a vested interest in some competing program because they seem to fixate on it. Personally, I wish school would focus more on reading books and less on these SEL expeditions but whatever.

Most of the kids need SEL, just not this program.

That's weird everyone at our school really loved it.

I think this poster is being provocative. Enjoys getting other posters riled up. I don't think they have anything to do with Leader in Me.

Really? I think it's the opposite. The people all bent out of shape about this program seem unhinged to me.

Lol, except no one criticizing the program here here has posted a single "unhinged" statement. We know you're the same poster who is a Covey shill. How embarrassing.

I assume the poster is either trolling or is working for LiM in some way. It has been miserable to deal with at most levels in MCPS. It seems OK for younger age groups in ES but from 5th grade on up, the presentations are very lame and scripted. They just reused most of the ES materials for older ages.

My understanding is that Leader in Me was chosen over other programs since they said it had curriculum for ES, MS and HS. Reality is far different and MCPS has been hoodwinked.

Hmm. I love KID and Bocce but can’t stand leader in me. Kid offers something useful, including hands on learning, and bocce serves kids who don’t have as many sports team opportunities as neurotypical kids. Leader in Me is hogwash.

I find it very interesting that we can’t have a Halloween parade in mcps (which costs the school nothing) because of “religion” yet we paid upwards of $2M for this curriculum largely derived from Mormon principles.

I don't really see how the curriculum is actually aligned with religious principles. I am not a fan of leader in me but I don't think it's necessarily a religious curriculum

Interesting to me that you're only vision of leadership is through the lens of business and not recognizing that there are other aspects of leadership/leadership roles that are necessary in society

At our school leader in me seems successful in fact everyone seems to like it both teachers and kids.

Seems like the posters on this thread are shills for a competing program.

Or I'm a school counselor who actually cares about kids rather than money.
