So someone drank the kool-aid at forbes and that somehow makes your point valid? Nah....try again! |
There's a poster who has their panties in a bunch over this. They likely have a vested interest in some competing program because they seem to fixate on it. Personally, I wish school would focus more on reading books and less on these SEL expeditions but whatever. |
Nope just see teachers who are good at what they are good at and completely out of their element when it comes to leadership. |

| This is our second year with it in my elementary school. It's awful and definitely cult-like. I don't even teach it for the most part. Once a week I might grab a lesson out of it that doesn't seem too stupid and I'll do that with my kids. For the most part, I prefer to focus our SEL and morning meeting time on topics that are important to the students in that moment. For example, problem-solving an issue that keeps occurring in class or helping them through friendship issues. |
This is how we all know you're full of sh*t.. LIM is hardly leadership. Everyone and anyone with a brain knows this. You're just so sad and pathetic to buy into this cult-nonsense. Truly, I hope you get better soon. |
Are you getting paid by the line? What a joke...Everyone here is echoing how terrible it is. You're not gonna win. |
The program seems fine so that leaves one or two possibilities, but if I were to bet, I'd go with it's one or two fixated posters. |
The DCUM Way! |
I can't decide if the cult-like Leader in Me PR team is on this thread defending that garbage, or if it's defensive MCPS administrators worried they'll get called out for misusing funds. Either way, there's no value added and it's harmful if only because it sucks time and resources away from other more important areas. |
Or just plain old regular folks who are fed up with non-stop complaining about this trivia like this, the kid museum or bocce ball. |
|
Teacher here. I feel that teaching Leader in Me feels like cheerleading for a multi-level marketing scheme. I am forced to promote something I have little knowledge of and very little faith that it is helping my students. It is not SEL.
The only ones truly benefiting from this is the company getting the money and they are now going to promote MCPS involvement to continue their gravy train. I fear some staff will eventually get hired by this company to continue promoting it. |
Notice how Dr. McKnight included a Steven Covey quote in her latest email.... |
Kids should have nothing to do with these “classes,” regardless of who leads them. |
Covey is insipid, pop psych, business lite garbage. Sorry you drank the Kool-Aid. Keep it far away from our kids. |
