Is it better to marry someone 5-10 years older than you?

Even though younger, attractive female finds aging, balding, low tested middle age man disgusting and unattractive?

They all appreciate the wallet.

indeed, that's really the only way a young attractive woman would end up with an old man.

She doesn't get pop culture references of our peer group because they don't watch Netflix or listen to music made in the 2000's. He dresses like it's 1988 and she's a bit more updated but she wears "old" accessories like scarves and outdated jewelry which make her seem like she could be his age.

+1. Yes, I've seen this happen as well. Specifically with the 10ish year age gap. And from an end of life perspective, my father was 10 years older than my mother and when he died in his 70s, it aged her rapidly. She went from an active older grandmother, to mentally old and worn out. It was really hard to watch and she lost a lot of good years. Nobody here has posted about the end yet, but seeing that happen and her confirm that it's common.

I wonder how Melania Trump deals with Trump's "friend group", who are usually old men. I'm the same age as her, and I can't possibly imagine what I would have in common with a 70+ yr old and to socialize with them.

You think men with hot and young wives don't cheat, divorce or die?

I married a woman I met in grad school--she was the same age as me, and fat. But I thought at least she'd be loyal. Nope! She was abusive, nasty, and had functioned even worse now that we are divorced. She didn't help my career either, she was always picking fights at faculty parties and getting me in trouble with my colleagues. I should have married a thin, attractive woman with an agreeable disposition.

"I married a woman I think is ugly because I figured she wouldn't cheat and now she's pissed" What exactly did you think would happen?

+ 1 Same.

I see this a lot in lesbian couples as well.

+1 what an idiot. Maybe the ^PP couldn't get "a thin, attractive woman with an agreeable disposition" to marry him. Maybe you deserved the nastiness because she realized what an ahole you were.

No, I'm not fat, but that was such a dumb post.

My husband is 13 years older then me. He is 53 now and has always had more energy than me. I am fit and run 3-4 miles everyday, but DH will run 5-6 and then play tennis and then coach our son’s baseball teAm (not every day of course).
He needs less downtime than I do and is just an easier person all around. He also looks much younger and wants to have sex all the time (which is annoying)…

Maybe things will change in 10 years and he might retire before me (but not 13 years before because we still have youngish kids).

It works for us!

All of the age difference couples in the younger man, older woman thread seem happy.

Same here, although we have a massive libido imbalance, with hers a fraction of mine. To match up on libido, an age gap is better. I wish I had married younger.

I was 11 years younger than my exH. He wanted different, less “energy consuming” sex and couldn’t finish twice in one hour. I needed 2 Os to be satisfied (second O is always deeper for me and it has to be almost right after the first one on increased intensity motion ). If it doesn’t happen I am too hot down there bothering him for more and it becomes a “duty” for him. Or I need to masturbate to fall asleep. He could only do it till age 47 or so. I stopped wanting or discussing sex with him and resorted to porn watching and self- play. We divorced (he cheated with a woman his age, but didn’t end up with her). I am dating younger men now and it seems to be working better with 38-45 yo ages

That's because it's the women writing in. Ask the men how they feel and you might find otherwise.

I married an older woman and I definitely am dealing with her loss of libido way earlier than my friends.
